Gated communities are allowed and Niantic clearly say so in their guidance when reviewing: These locations are appropriate: Any location that is accessible publicly to pedestrians, both indoors and outdoors, is appropriate, including the following locations: Restricted - locations that restrict access to a subset of people…
-
Wayspots on private campsites are perfectly valid wayspots, but obviously you shouldn't access the campsite if you don't have permission to do so.
-
Regardless of whose photos they are, nomination appeals are not accepted on this forum.
-
Road signs aren't generally considered eligible because they're not a great place to explore, socialise or exercise, and a warning sign telling people to beware of children situated on a road without a sidewalk/pavement is particularly problematic. Even if it wasn't home made I don't think this would stand a chance passing…
-
The featured wayspots are completely automated and it's not unusual to see completely ineligible nominations selected.
-
That doesn't matter - anything on or attached to a single family private residence is ineligible regardless of whether you can reach it from the sidewalk.
-
It looks like it's on the garden wall of a private residence.
-
Is it not a garden of a private residence?
-
A name alone wouldn't cause problems under GDPR
-
I'd resubmit using that photo. No promises, but I think it's likely to get accepted.
-
My last two August nominations finally got rejected - a walk along pavements (sidewalks) an through a park connecting three churches was rejected for residential and a circular footpath walk over fields for being unsafe. I'm basically done with this routes nonsense for the time being.

Can you share the full description and supporting text? They are eligible, but can require a bit of work - you need to clearly explain what makes the place special and a cut above the average coffee shop.
-
If the monument is on school premises it would be invalid, if it's just next to the school it wouldn't be. Photo's might help.
-
If it's on the wall of a single family private residence then under Niantic's rules it would be invalid.
-
I'm not familiar with Japanese law, but it would strike me as odd that taking a photograph of a public sign would be seen as problematic.

Another more recent thread: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/51324/submitting-trail-marker-nominations#latest
-
They've published clarification, but no one seems to read it: These are fine, just name them well to clearly identify.
-
Trail signs generally are mass produced, but that doesn't affect their validity.
-
1 - I can't see any problem with a list of names that are already in the public domain. 2 - Providing they are accurately placed I don't see any issues.
-
Why not access it from the top? There is no need to access from the main road that I can see. I struggle to believe that the planners would put a trail marker on a path that cannot be safely accessed.
-
There might be inconsistency in how people vote, because not everyone follows the rules, but I don't see any inconsistency in the rules . The rules haven't changed in years either.
-
You can't rely on Google Maps - it doesn't show all businesses. There really is no way of proving this place is or isn't a motel other than taking photos on site.
-
The hotel itself may not be eligible but that doesn't mean objects in a hotel are ineligible.
-
Without geotagged photos it's impossible to tell what the building is. I've never seen anything suggesting Motels are ineligible.
-
Please refrain from factional comments on the forum. Geotagged photos are the best way of proving location. Google maps does not list all businesses and is open to manipulation.
-
Photo evidence will help
-
Look for a sign, jetty or maybe a viewpoint you can nominate instead - there really needs to be a physical object.
-
If it's not gone into voting I'd withdraw it. It's a natural feature with no defined wayspot.
-
Unless they're part of a memorial they're invalid as @SeaprincessHNB-PGO says. They're mass produced generic items too.

From the reviewing info: These locations are appropriate: Any location that is accessible publicly to pedestrians, both indoors and outdoors, is appropriate, including the following locations: Restricted - locations that restrict access to a subset of people (Gated community or members-only locations, military bases)
