They do not need to be cropped in any way, although there does reach a point where the ratio is unnecessary. But on photo alone this candidate should not be rejected for orientation. That's a likely native aspect ratio used by some phones.

Without making an opinion on the photos removed in your situation, I can confirm a local experience where a friend reported an ineligible 3rd party photo (taken from Wikipedia) for a recently approved Wayspot. Niantic added the same photo in your examples. This is local to me.

The very first sentence is entirely inaccurate. You're still using "Niantic says this" when they never did. I read past that line and more or less agreed with your follow-up, but you set the stage with a false statement ready to be misinterpreted by anyone looking for proper advice.

That's a goal. Don't forget a lot of the current Ambassador team frequently uses the chat, the online form, and the Wayforum so we're versed with limitations of each and we're not shy at sharing the dirt about the shortcomings.

Keep in mind, @Axino-PGO, we're trying our best to share what we can and support communication but have to be careful that we say. We are NOT speaking directly for Niantic and we've (I've) stated commitments made to us that then never panned out.

Keep in mind that, although it isn't perfect, you can use the Help Chat to handle appeals on invalid Wayspots, often with much faster results.

I do genuinely think they care. It is something we've poked a lot at, whether we can elaborate more on that or not, but there's more people in the room poking the issue, now too. I know it sucks and honestly I can't say enough to you, knowing you've actually dealt with it. But they do know and do want to fix it.

I think the system in place to implement suggested location changes is easier than text changes which could be a lot more dynamic. I think a workflow system where it could get kicked back to the submitter faster and with more intuitive text would be better. Something like: "Your nomination may meet criteria but currently…
