I have found tons of fake LFLs over the years. There's one area where somebody would go take pictures of an LFL from different angles and then submit it in half a dozen different locations. I think I found 30-40 fake/duplicate LFLs in total.

@Zuddy1-PGO You weren't being asked to buy something to use a gym... you were being asked to buy something in order to use private property. The fact that you happened to be using that property to play a mobile game is completely irrelevant to the discussion, and the manager's request was perfectly reasonable. I understand…
-
Here's the thing... you didn't have to be at the coffee shop. You could have been up to 80 meters away and still been able to access the gym, though maybe take 10 meters off for drift. Find a public space nearby, or street parking, or anything where you aren't going to draw attention or cause problems. At a larger scale,…

I don't think Niantic will be changing the criteria to require creative descriptions either, but they might step in to stop a large number of them from being turned into marketing messages.
-
@ViitCZ-ING I cant speak as to the quality of the wayspot, but I can give you information about the accessibility of it. I think there's plenty of room to access it without disturbing people in both Ingress (inner circle) and PoGo (outer circle).
-
@SeaprincessHNB-PGO Different wayspots with the same name can be a real annoyance in Ingress. Keys with identical names for different things make it harder to throw links and fields, to know which keys to recycle, recharge, etc. Niantic says this: Official titles, if known If no 'official' title, creative titles to…

Go you! Always be extra careful for anything that's under tree cover.
-
Another small observation: Safe pedestrian access does not require that all members of the public have access to the location, just that some people do. Similarly, I don't that a great place to socialize requires that it be a great place for everyone to socialize, just that it's a great place for some people to socialize.…

Playgrounds are one of the few types of things that are reliably available to be wayspots in suburban and rural communities. Niantic has a significant challenge with making these areas playable without resorting to allowing completely uninteresting things into the games, and playgrounds were partially a concession to…

@siutps-PGO In bocca al lupo!

@siutps-PGO There are lots of things in the games that wouldn't qualify right now, either because they were approved under earlier rules or by mistake. Here's the street view, with the not-decorative water dispenser at the far left. You should be able to submit the park as a whole, and/or the cluster of picnic tables…

That is not a decorative fountain, and thus is not a great place to explore, exercise, or be social.

@EvilMasterOfAll-ING You're quite welcome! I've spent a lot of time doing deep dives on likely-fake wayspots, especially during the earlier parts of the pandemic when we were all pretty much confined to quarters. I enjoy the sleuthing aspect of it. Wayfarer can be an expensive hobby, though, because there's so much cool…

@NianticLC @NianticRN Please see the spreadsheet above for my audit of the wayspot locations and the documented locations. The biggest problem is that the sculpture North Watch appears three times on the intel map. The sculpture Icon North does not exist at all, although a review of that seems to have been the catalyst for…

@DTrain2002-PGO Nice find! I've done my very best to catalog all of the sculptures in the list that @DTrain2002-PGO found and to match them up to the map Here is a spreadsheet in Google Docs that has my findings. The TL;dr is that the sculpture North Watch is on the map three times-- North Watch, 2010 is the real one.…

It's pretty common for people to create fakes of things that are under tree cover, and sometimes duplicate them accidentally when the initial one is misplaced. I like trying to find information about things like this by sleuthing around the net, but this is a difficult one. I found a fair bit of information but nothing…

@26thDoctor-PGO Let me paraphrase my understanding of what justmeister said: "I use the abuse form or delete portals using my scanner because some people are rude when I report things in the forums."
-
@WegUitMijnGym-PGO Niantic doesn't generally remove wayspots unless they are provably invalid, although they occasionally err on that. Half the time they don't even remove the ones that ARE provably invalid. Malicious removal of wayspots isn't limited to one game... I've also heard of PoGo players trying to get something…
-
They're almost always through submissions. You said, "I've tried shops, road signs, bus stops... all rejected". Road signs and bus stops are essentially never eligible. Shops can be, but they typically require there to be something that makes them particularly interesting or valuable to the local community... and your…

A high school is not a legitimate wayspot. Niantic forbids wayspots that are on K-12 property, which is Americanspeak for any school that is primarily for students 18 and under.
-
I see it in Ingress. It looks like it may be blocked in PoGo by Cheviot Avenue Community Hoop. Each Niantic game has proximity rules for what can appear in that game. In PoGo they use a world geometry system called S2, and only one Pokestop/Gym is allowed per S2 cell of a certain size.

Check out this pinned post: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/41750/my-wayspot-nomination-was-accepted-but-does-not-appear-in-my-game-s-where-did-it-go

Can you just edit it out of the mission, or contact the person who created the mission to do so? BTW, this is more of an Ingress question than a Wayfarer question.
-
This isn't a Wayfarer question.
-
@29andCounting-PGO Technically they do tell you... it's right there in the acceptance email. Most people gloss over that, though. I think it should also be made clear during the submission workflow since that would help calibrate people's expectations much earlier.
-
@11Pekoe-PGO Click whatever icon you have at the top right... in my case it's the purple owl-looking thing... then Edit Profile. On the right side of the page you should see "Change My Picture". If not then yeah, it might be locked to some forum level.
-
@11Pekoe-PGO The pin for something like an art gallery should be placed at a logical place of discovery, such as the entrance to the gallery. The "Placemarkers for Large Areas" guidelines are more tailored to outdoor areas but I think an art gallery would generally be treated the same way: Placemarkers for Large Areas…

@THEROOKlE-PGO My Washington Monument photos were merely examples of how to frame images for Wayfarer. WashMonument2 would be fine in terms of people because they're just vague outlines in the distance. WashMonument1 is marginal, but if I had intended to use it as a wayspot photo I would have made sure that the foreground…
