The objects on the altar are small. Reviewers thought they could easily be removed - so gave the temporary rejection code. Also, the street view looks like it's at someone's house, which Niantic doesn't allow.

It depends where the text came from. If it comes from the entity being nominated, it's not plagiarism. If the nomination is a historical marker, it's fine to transcribe its text into the description. For a park or trail, it's OK to quote its official website. If it's a restaurant, it's fine to quote that restaurant's web…

Try reading this https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/criteria/eligibility Niantic is not trying to create a database of All That Is. And they're not trying to do public service.
-
In the U.S., there's a legal property zoning for single family residences. In most places, you can't have a public-facing business in a place zoned single-family-residence. For example, someone in a house in a zoned neighborhood can't have a shop in their basement, where the public pulls into their driveway and makes…

There are two messages: cooldown and "no more to review". If you get the cooldown message, then you need to review more carefully. Click pictures to enlarge. Click the title to open Google in a different tab. Click possible duplicates, to enlarge their pictures. Click the map google icon to open in a different tab. Switch…

I don't like basketball courts at schools for minors. But I think Niantic & NBA's reasoning is that evening and weekend pick-up basketball games are already happening there. Potentially every day. Home high school football games happen five nights a year, and it'd be creepy to be there any of the other 361 days. No one…

Yes Niantic has said that if it's a dangerous place like industrial site or rail yard, we should use "Obstructs emergency services". And I've given up my part-time job of keeping track of where Niantic said what.

Try a different browser. Not Firefox. Have you passed the Waferar test yet? Might have to do that first.

By getting us to change our bonus, they are asking us to trust them to allow us to reset our bonus at the end of the challenge, even tho it has not been a year. I wish Niantic would just put a switch in our settings: "Participate in global review challenges". Yes/No

If you're in the U.S., that wayspot is probably brushing up against Niantic's class-action lawsuit settlement agreement. The lawsuit came about because when Pokemon Go was new, people swarmed places, including houses - blocking driveways, trampling gardens, making noise all night, looking in windows. The settlement…

The only allowed reasons for removal are: No pedestrian access Obstructs or interferes with Emergency Services Private Residential Property School (up to K-12) Permanently removed from this location Duplicate of another wayspot So if your gym doesn't meet any of those conditions, there's nothing to report, and a lie should…

When Pokemon Go was new, and journalists wanted to write about the new popular thing (without putting more than a couple hours into it)... many noted that churches were pokestops, but not mosques or temples. And financial districts had pokestops, but not "underpriveleged", "inner city" places we now reference saying "red…

That's still ambiguous: "so long as there wouldn’t be objections to you entering the area". (I mean, it's Niantic, so of course it's ambiguous.)
-
I don't think Niantic is trying to replicate Yelp, and have EVERY restaurant there is.

Assuming you have earned an Upgrade, AND the nomination is marked Upgrade (not Upgrade Next), AND the nomination was made more than 24 hours ago -- it should go into voting within a day, and be resolved in a day to a week depending how obvious (vs iffy) it is. IOW if half vote yes, and halv vote no - it'll take a while in…

I just had a disturbing idea. How can we tell if they simply fed the questions to a chat bot??

Many rejection codes are hard to descipher. For example, "K-12 school" doesn't mean much outside the U.S. - and it's misleading in the U.S. because it appplies to children younger than kindergarten too, AND to anyplace where parents leave their children in the care of others, like Boy Scout camps and kiddie gymnastics and…

I get reviews from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. I don't know anything about your township or its parks. I only know what is shown in each nomination, and on the maps. I pass ballfields - unless there's something obviosly wrong with the nomination. To you it feels personal, so you blame…

@MrWallrider-PGO The only reasonable answer is that the Wayfarer algorithms are totally ruined by the conflux with Foursquare. No the algorithms were like this for five years - long before the conflux with Foursquare. Niantic tries to prioritize "rural" areas, but they are poor at identifying "rural", and they punish…

This was one of the December AMA "top 15" questions. So I'm sure they'll address it clearly, and fulfill this challenge's promise, when they publish the answers tomorrow! 😅

With the Wayfarer app, you can scan with your submission. Google is Niantic's mapping competitor, not compatriot. Niantic has been building Google's database (by nominators uploading Photospheres), when they want to build their own.

Lots of countries have more than one national language, like Canada (English and French) and Belgium (Flemish and French). Countries with four official languages include Austria, Bahrain, Spain and Singapore. Some countries have no official national language, like the United States and Mexico. South Africa has 11 official…

I didn't follow what you are trying to say about upgrades, but if you want to control them (instead of letting Niantic always choose your oldest), go here https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/settings and make sure the last switch is OFF. A stencil on a rock is not a good waypoint. Nominate the building for its historical…

Another case of poor communication. The email should call it by the same name as the website. Interchanging "Contribution" and "Nomination" (and adding/dropping "New", "Management", etc) is sloppy and confusing.
-
Maybe it was after May 2021? Niantic likes to not tell us stuff, and what they do say, they spread to the corners of the internet. But I found this https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help/niantic-wayfarer-december-2021-ama Q4: What is being done about existing nominators/reviewers not keeping up with criteria? - How is…
-
Yes, people have complained about this for five years, and Niantic has made no indication that they'll do anything about it. Maybe, as a compromise, in areas with several languages, Niantic could make a reviewer's first 100 reviews be in their selected language (assuming there ARE 100). That could give experience, that…

Yes, I want to believe Niatnic looks at past comments if a rejection is appealed an accepted wayspot is reported a nominator is reported as abusive (history check comments on that nominator's nominations) a reviewer is reported as abuse (history check comments that reviewer made on other people's nominations)
-
One option is to stand where you want the pin to be, then open the nomination process - and you won't have to move the pin because it defaults to where you're standing. Once you continue from that page, you can walk away from that spot to enter the title, etc.
-
Maybe the nominations you reveiwed have not come to a decision yet.
-
Niantic has said they'd help new nominators thru their first few nominations, which I think only means the first few go thru faster. Now your grace period is over, and you're thrown in with the rest of us. You can upgrade one nomination for every 100 review agreements you achieve. Expect that to take 160-200 reviews…
