Thanks. This is ridiculous. This hotel might not be eligible (it doesn't look unique or interesting and you don't sell it well at all), but it most definitely isn't abusing. This is the definition of a submission that can go either way. To send an abuse warning because of this is outrageous and this thread should convince…
-
Can we see the rest of the nomination as well? Title, description, supporting picture. Without them, we can't be 100% sure that it isn't actually abusive. However, if it turns out that this is really just a hotel, this is outrageous.
-
"In the body of the email, it will also include a description of the cause for the suspension or warning." What time does this "will" refer to? If you're saying that this has already been implemented and emails include a decription of the alleged wrongdoing, this is a blatant lie. We know what these emails look like.…

Again, my main issue is transparency. Decisions (especially disciplinary decisions) should be transparent, that's a minimum requirement for trust in the system. People being warned/banned should be told exactly what they did wrong and why. (The emails I've seen so far are extremely vague and don't educate at all.) All they…
-
And one day later, I had an appeal rejected for the most ridiculous reason yet: the nomination is on the property of a hotel. The hotel is tagged on Google Maps, OSM and every other resource in existence. I linked the hotel's website in my appeal. Yet, Niantic's own reviewers rejected in because "it's located on private…

On the other hand, I just had an appeal for an informational sign about a very rare plant in a botanical garden (Wollemi pine, one of the first in Europe) rejected for being "just a regular tree", even though the main picture shows the info sign (with a lot of information about the plant, not just its name). Niantic appeal…

I just want to chime in to focus more attention to two aspects several people seem to be missing: transparency and education. The practices of Niantic regarding abuse is currently not transparent at all. They don't tell you what you did wrong. The emails sent out are extremely vague. There is no proper way to appeal these…
-
The new roadmap announcement, and particularly the anti-cheat efforts part, is deeply worrying to me. I'm still not convinced that Niantic understands that making mistakes is not the same as abuse and it can't be treated the same way. Also, Niantic seems to be unable to understand that giving out punishment without any…

It has been 3 months since I last participated in Wayfarer because of this issue. I tried to look up whether any progress has been made about these "educational" emails but unfortunately I couldn't find anything conclusive. @Elijustrying-ING, have the ambassadors been able to achieve something? I kinda miss reviewing, I…
-
So? What's your point? This is a Wayfarer forum where we're discussing an issue that affects people doing Wayfarer-rwlated activities.
-
I'm resurrecting this discussion one (maybe last) time, because I'm extremely disappointed by the "update" we got last week. The update only mentions the whole situation with the following: We are investing heavily in mechanisms to detect and strictly enforce those who misuse Wayfarer, including banning them from games.…

The property being in private hands is not enough for it to be removed, you have to show that it's single-family residential property. From what I can see, it looks like a forest.
-
I am fairly sure that appeals have only been available since 2020, so that doesn't seem possible.
-
Not only this, but this particular garden and fountain is pretty well documented. I Googled "Holon japanese Garden" and there is plenty of available information about it, proving its uniqueness, if you're willing to do the bare minimum and not decide based off a half-second glance at the main picture.
-
I completely agree that Niantic should be way, way, waay more transparent about the actual process to submitters. I also fin it completely ridiculous that they somehow expect to keep inclusion rules a "secret" and continue to pretend they are unknowable, even though very public forums have been very publicly discussing…
-
"Your submission is being reviewed quickly (presumably) by Niantic, so you got the value of the upgrade." You're missing the point entirely. Niantic voting, while expediting the review process, completely negates the upgrade. It's like betting on an auction you're already winning. This submission would have been reviewed…
-
That is a mistake.
-
"They didn't like my submissions" isn't a real reason to suspend an account, though. And even if it was, they should still send you an email explaining their decision. Could you provide some information that's currently missing? - have you reviewed nominations or have you only been submitting? - has any of your nominations…

The current system is the lesser of two evils. Yes, it's annoying when something that probably shouldn't have been accepted gets into the system. But it's nowhere near the level of chaos that would happen if "doesn't meet criteria" suddenly became a removal criterion. You can find people on this forum (which is, mind you,…
-
Removal criteria are the following (if someone can dig up the source, great, but I don't have the time right now): - object is permanently removed or it has never been there (fake) - object is on single-family residential property - object is on K12 school property - Wayspot interferes with the operation of emergency…

I don't think there is any difference between gyms in different "cultural contexts". Typical gyms are exactly the same in the US, the Netherlands, Turkey, Austria and Hungary (this is my personal experience), and thanks to Wayfarer challenges, I've seen gyms in Brazil and Russia that looked like any gym I've seen. As far…
-
Gyms make money by having people excercise in them. That is their basic function. Again: exactly the same as every single tennis/ squash club, which are also for-profit places. I understand, you want gyms not to be eligible because you're still holding onto the old "generic business" rejection reason. But you're…

Did you know that you can access previous Street View pictures online? I guess you didn't, or you wouldn't claim that the field is farmland. There have been 12 different Street View images taken at this place since 2008 and it's obvious that this field has not been tilled once in the last 15 years. Also, if the side road…
-
Oh great, another post where people treat removing perfectly fine Wayspots as a strategic element of their chisen game. Just by looking at your Street View screenshot, I can tell that this field is not a private residential property or farm (because there's no building or crop on it) and that it's completely safely…
-
Gyms are very different from restaurants, though. Gyms meet one of the acceptance criteria - a great place to excercise - by definition, no matter what the ownership or branding is like. Football fields, tennis clubs, squash clubs, basketball hoops, outdoor gyms etc. are accepted, even though most of the time there's…

"Well enough" is your personal opinion and preference. Please don't clog the already huge backlog on the forum by trying to force your opinion on eveeyone else.
-
I don't see any photos that are bad enough to be removed. All of these depict the point of interest and they are recognizable. If you dislike them, don"t vote for them and you should never see them again unless you're looking for them.
-
I've learnt long ago that I should only appeal stuff that are remote and I can't reasonable go back and nominate them ever again, or stuff that have zero chance of being accepted by the reviewing community despite being perfectly eligible (in other words: gyms and art studios). That being said, I agree that we should be…

@nic31tlse-ING One is a cross that's in a park that's accessible through a gate and that's perfectly safe to stand next to. The other one is a cross that's located next to a crossroad with no sidewalk or pathway leading up to it. The only way it can be accessed is by crossing the road at a dangerous spot or trespassing…

I'm happy that this issue has been resolved. Also, I'm saving this discussion to link it next time when someone writes on this forum that "Pokémon Go players have less respect for the quality of Wayspots than Ingress players" or that "Pokémon Go players are the ones who abuse the system".I also find it hilarious how this…
