Apologies for the confusion @zebromussel-ING, since the Upgrades from the India Wayfarer Challenge were added by the Niantic team, they do stack above the displayed limit. Organically earned Upgrades do cap out at 10, as you described. Hope that clarifies things!

Update: the Wayfarer team has found and resolved the cause of this and has kicked off an update to any impacted nomination statuses, which should gradually happen over the next several hours. I've added a note to the known issues page as well.
