If you read the thread which was my post btw. I linked some examples which @NianticGiffard give us answers based on. This post here has the link to my examples which is the bottom link and I think the middle link is the reply from niantic.

I would not call this a Marker as clearly its a sign to the popular ice and coffee café. If the café is a few miles away from the sign and there are multiple signs leading you there you might be able to then class it as a marker.
-
Doesn’t work for remote subs? Is that a bug?
-
@NianticGiffard @NianticAaron how do with feel about this submission? We were told back in September these were acceptable in the very big post thread about cycle markers and trail markers.
-
I would like to know what they mean as well as the point itself is eligible and acceptable according to the massive forum post we had a few months ago. Links above in another comment for the massive forum thread.
-
Imo these signs are eligible and acceptable and the comment above with links to the rather large thread confirms that Niantic have said these are acceptable.
-
@NianticGiffard @NianticDanbocat Care to comment as to what actually happened and why suddenly nothing makes sense when it comes to S2 cells? Did Niantic just drop all the rules?
-
This is going to be great for the Pokémon community but the ingress reviewing community is going to hate it. Do we expect to see a change in criteria for Pokémon go players? Will this increases abuse from both submitters and reviewers? I hope they talk a little about this in the AMA as we deserve some answers.
-
That has nothing to do with it. Niantic has said they are acceptable and eligible so why shouldn’t accept them? It’s your choice to decide over Niantic’s guidelines but then it’s coming down to what you find interesting or what you want added to the game. It’s almost like you don’t care about community growth as long as…
-
All it takes is the correct reviewer pool to agree it’s acceptable because it’s eligible. The same goes for dog waste bins.
-
well this infographic is made for new explorers so having it highlight generic and mass produced should have been a high priority. Maybe we will see a rework of all the criteria on wayfarer as well. The we have the confusion of the below post. which talks about @NianticDanbocat recent comments. These comments really make…
-
That is a very good point. Generic and mass produced gone. How long will this take to actually be followed then.
-
That’s exactly my point. Would you have ever considered them as eligible before the comment? Are they really a good place to be socialise or explore?
-
What I’m asking is until we had the comment saying about dog waste stations would we have considered them eligible? so what else did we consider and not eligible which now maybe should be? If a dog waste station is considered as a social place then a lot more things should actually be considered.
-
Wayfarers maybe but what about the actual players of the games. Ingress players think they have enough portals as having to many might be to hard for links or something I don’t know. But the game is portal based nothing else. (You get to see all the POI on the map) Pokémon Go clearly Niantic’s biggest game. This game…

I didn’t do anything of the sort. I offered up information which is widely available online. I’m sure Niantic can look into NCN markers and actually see for themselves and I’m confident they did.
-
What’s better I guess Pet waste bins or post boxes. The Red British post box has so much history. There are only 120000 ish in the country. Most people are around half a mile away from one. There are far far less of these compared to parks and play areas and they are more historical. why shouldn’t they all be acceptable?
-
These wouldn't show up in all games due to cells. So its not like everyone would make it into every gameboard. Signs like these are great for people visiting an area for the first time so it could help them explore a new area whether that is in a city or countryside.
-
You point in 3. is very misleading. 95% of the Routes/trails will never hit a major road. NCN always uses the safest routes for all people. Check the link for the design principles. https://www.sustrans.org.uk/for-professionals/infrastructure/national-cycle-network-design-principles/
-
This small green/park has picnic benches, two play sets and a grass area for kicking a ball around or sitting by the river. No sign for it at all so the park itself can't have a POI only the play sets.…

Please give us a Wayfarer app. This would improve the whole process of submitting and reviewing keeping it all in one app. How far has this been discussed internally?
-
Now the main focus is all about Exploration, Exercise, socialise isn’t it about time the reviewing section historical or cultural significance is changed to reflect this? This could also mean the removal of the visually unique section.
-
That is a shared sign for all users pedestrians cyclists and cars on a minor road. These minor roads are classed as safe for all by the NCN. anyways that’s all from me we have are answers on the main post which has had plenty of these debates.
-
yeah I agree the debate on markers is now over we have had the answers. We now know what’s acceptable and what’s not. Get subbing.
-
Not all of them would make it in places like NL as they do have a enormous amount of these types of way points. Don’t complain these will make some small towns and villages much better now.
-
All NCN routes match the criteria. This link is very good. They make them as safe as possible for everybody to use and explore, exercise.
-
Can agree with that. We have the answer. One thing I would ask is can this be talked about in the next AMA? Its been a great thread thanks to everyone who's been involved.
-
I still feel you are missing the point. Forget about generic please. The blue part of the NCN sign is generic I would agree but the information given on the sigh is different on each sign. Routes, Trails, Cycleways, all these things promote Exploration, Exercise, Socialising. They are 90% off of main roads with most being…
-
NCN do try and use minor roads, but most (at least locally) are along shared paths, old railways, etc etc for the safety reason you have said about.
