Best of luck to your son and family! I didn't vote on this candidate, but it looks like a great place to take a restorative walk. As someone who struggles with depression, it's nice to know that there are others like me who get a bit of healing from in-game objects and the joy they provide. Keep up the good fight!

Yep that's a very nice sign, and meets eligibility requirements except for the fact that it meets rejection standards for pedestrian access, which can cause any 5* nomination to merit 1* immediately despite all the other wonderful attributes it might possess. Since you said that this was an appeal, the "natural feature" is…

Judging from the title, it might appear that you were nominating the river itself and not the decorative sign.

In my opinion, these Stations of the Cross look quite acceptable, although some may object to the series as a sensitive location because the primary purpose is for prayer and reflection. The rejections might also reflect an issue with Title, Description, or supporting information which we don't see in your post. I'd…

I'm a bit of a badge...enthusiast, let's say, and this would definitely be fun for me! I remember my efforts for 4sq badges fondly, although my social media friends likely didn't appreciate my push for Oversharer. 😀 Character/ Challenge Badges, to me, are a nice way to accessorize my profiles in game without adding to my…
-
Of note: I've never seen the "challenge active" banner - I don't think I've logged out of Wayfarer recently, and default to my Profile page most times.

I hadn't planned to take part in this challenge, initially, because I had really hoped for an African country to be represented since many African nations are severely under-served. However, someone posted an argument for participation that I found quite compelling, and that persuaded me to change my stance. I don't really…

None of the variances apply to Wayfarers. As an Ingress player, I've submitted many things that appear in only one game, as each game has unique inclusion rules. Pokemon Go players can submit Ingress-only Wayspots, Ingress players can submit Pokemon Go-only Wayspots. Yes, each game has unique rules for gameplay, because…

The only thing that varies by game is the level required to become eligible to nominate and review. There are no rules in either game that say one team can only do X, and the other team can only do Y. Every Wayfarer takes the same type of test and can perform the same type of actions.

@Shilfiell-ING You can't stop 100% of abuse in any game, but that's not quite the same as saying you can't make abuse more difficult to pull off. Yes, but that should not include special removal rules for a single game based on team dominance at a particular portal. That's a tiny fraction of overall abuse of the system,…

The most recent case I can think of in Ingress was a malicious removal, somehow approved by Niantic, of a Wayspot at an apartment long occupied by members of a particular team. This removal was requested by someone of their own faction, because there's a deep schism locally among members of that team. Imposing special…

Ingress is, for the most part, a team versus team game. When Niantic removed team advantage from raids in Pokemon Go, they essentially removed a key competitive element and it no longer really matters what team one is on, except in gym control which is now more transactional than competitive with many players having…

Rejecting something for an incorrect reason isn't necessarily abuse. Reviewers are human, and mistakes are sometimes made. Niantic staffers themselves tend to reject eligible appeals for being "generic" and that's not even a rejection reason! Abuse is a strong term that should be reserved for intentional actions, such as…

True, not all Wayfarers are doing a good job - but most aren't intentionally rejecting things such as yours. When I first started submitting, it was common to take several attempts to get a good nomination through. I never called for anyone to be punished, though - I'd just resubmit and hope for a different pool of…
-
"It is generic" is a lazy, vague, ridiculous rejection reason used by Niantic much too frequently. With more precise verbiage available to them, why do they use these meaningless copy-paste scripts?
-
I live in a fairly fast reviewing area, so generally I bank my Upgrades - but on a recent foreign vacation I did use a half-dozen hoping to see a few things appear while I was there. I was successful!
-
For my own part, without Niantic making any changes on their end, I'd do the following: Talk to local Pokemon Go communities about leveling up and how the Wayfarer medal is attainable from one's couch, any time of day, at no cost: people less likely to spend money in game or travel can still obtain another Platinum in…

My August 2022 appeal recently went into voting, but my March and April appeals have not. I haven't had an appeal available for May yet, so the only other appeal I have pending is from December of 2022. I didn't jump on the once-daily bug at the outset so all my original appeals have been decided thus far, with only one…

(I'd edit my original post but don't want to send it to another moderation cycle) Like @Elijustrying-ING above, I think, I learned a lot well before I made my first submission - partially through collaboration with local Ingress players, buut mostly through my own research into how the process worked. I pored through TSR…

My first nomination was one I'd been keeping quiet for ages as I clawed my way to Level 10 in Ingress: I was able to get out this past weekend and submit something along the way - I think I've learned that I really like historical markers. 😀 (and yes, I did consider blocking out the town names in these photos - but they're…

Hi - did you have inline pictures in your posts? If so, they'll go into a moderation status and will only show up once approved.
-
Are you saying you will reject GR post-boxes? this seems odd as there is a clear precedent that all that date QE are valid "historic" means of facilitating communication (that was my understanding why post boxes and offices are "good" submission candidates) I'm not a UK resident, so my opinion should be taken with the…

Thanks for the update! It does bring up another question - will there be a Wayfarer booth at this years' GoFests? I hope so!!

Which reminds me, did Ingress or all other Niantic games have any big events similiar to GO Fests and GO Tours? I'd recall that Pikmin Bloom had a thing called Pikmin Bloom Tour in Sapporo, which has been already over. Ingress has multiple large in-person events, like the Anomaly I just canceled out on because it's the…

I call Belgium! 🤣

I disagreed, but of course I come from an era that had far fewer nominations available, and the 40 per game was a huge bump. When I was traveling to an area rich in submissions, I usually brought a friend to help - and of course I did have nominations available myself in both Ingress and Pokemon Go. For your local…

My March and April appeals have not yet been looked at, along with two other older appeals. I wonder if Niantic has transitioned from FIFO to LIFO to MFLNFE (Middle First, Latest Next, First Eventually) just to keep up their high inscrutability rating?
-
Yep, in the distant past these "plazas" were not considered eligible (they were routinely rejected), but they have become so - originally, "Plaza" was an eligible candidate, but only the open-urban-space type was generally accepted by reviewers. As more people interpreted "plaza" to mean "st-rip mall or shopping mall" and…

Dialect is a wonderful thing - in my area, there's a fairly hard line dividing "Water Fountain" (a decorative water feature) from "Drinking Fountain" (hydration station) but in other areas the term "Water Fountain" covers both. These subtleties in definition have led to a lot of gradual slides into acceptance for formerly…

Sign me up for a Parks donation if this is accomplished! Most of the supporting photos I see are replicas of the original photo, or are completely unrelated, unhelpful photos like a pile of rocks - literally.
