I did this actually the other way round... There were some really bad descriptions with pokemon go references, luckily no one ever upgraded here, so I went out, took my own photo, submitted and upgraded to get done first

What you outline here by leaning on appeal results doesn't work. We know that Niantic staff is not following their own criteria and often completely misses anything that is submitted in languages that are not that well auto-translatable to English such as French. The volume of accepted appeals would tell you exactly nothing
