Under the new criteria? No A great place for exploration A place you love to venture out to; a destination or a placemark of local interest and importance and which makes our communities unique and shapes its identity. Somewhere or something that tells the unique story about a place, its history, its cultural meaning, or…

FYI There are forums for every Niantic product except Pokemon Go. Knowing the userbase, it's quite self-evident why that is the case lol Ingress Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Catan: World Explorers Wayfarer

Your comment made me wonder what Africa was like. Saint Helena and Ascension Island only has a single portal, which is odd given the sports history and history with being Napolean Bonaparte's location of exile. You would think there would be more, but perhaps it's just not seen in Wayfarer. On the mainland, Maritania has a…

Agreed with the above. March: Wayfarer community forum launch! ^This was a great step forward May: Adding link to Forum in Wayfarer Why is this considered as a notable achievement, for an entire month? This is literally a two second job of just adding a hyperlink Everything else is fine and mostly it's pretty lacklustre.…

That's a shame, if I report something and have scanned the area where it used to be, I make mention in the report to check the AR scan. If it's not part of the process, then that's a bit of a waste as it seems the reports themselves aren't reviewed properly either :(

Fun fact, when HPWU was released as a beta in Australia, for a day or two there were a lot of rejected Wayspots that were visible! Including things that were too close or just outright rejected. If Niantic varied the wayspots more between games, there might be a greater appreciation for submitting all the cool stuff as it…

lol There's no evidence that this is true. I've scanned over 4,000 unique portals and never saw any changes. I've reported a number of Wayspots that are no longer there or are over 50m location edits, but nothing happens. Even the ones I have scanned and reported come back rejected by Niantic. There are a lot of people in…

If no terms of service violations have occurred (such as multiple accounts) then I fail to see how wanting a particular Wayspot to become a gym is an issue. If there are bad photographs then surely the fault for those photographs lies with the person who took them and besides, I don't think there are any terms of service,…

This 100% So many times I see absolutely terrible photos with a dozen upvotes and it's impossible to get a better photo promoted to the front. I look at PoGo, yep, it's a gym. It would be nice if the people that are willing to manipulate the gym system through upvotes would at the very least remove their upvotes after…

Did you remove all the upvotes on the photos after you were done selecting the gyms?

There are many other buildings like this were nominated, but without any credible source (even if the submitter just asking they need more Pokestops), I had my hard time deciding whether these buildings are worthy to become Wayspots or not. If you're having to Google search additional information, then you're doing the job…

Most of these places are a place of business and work (trust me, I work in the public sector). Any sort of claim that they are places to be social or explore are a farce. They are simply places to do work, like any other office building. Very few buildings will provide tours, and usually they would have good reason to -…

The Featured Wayspots have changed, now we can see who submitted the terrible nominations lol However they still seem to be originating from the first s2 cell in the region

Mine would be pretty much the same. Had one upgraded yesterday and it was rejected for being a duplicate, I checked Intel and fair enough, somebody else beat me to it lol I think most of the times when people are complaining about upgrades, they are submitting things that are either ineligible or borderline and they don't…

I've done 24k reviews, have double Onyx Recon and have discovered almost 600 portals. Reviewing is inherently mindless, especially when 90% of the things currently in queue are absolute trash and instant rejections. I can determine the quality of a review in a matter of seconds and finalise the review within 10 seconds. I…

100% this. Just to add to this: Most councils/shires/organisations will allow anybody to purchase a dedication plaque The person being dedicated doesn't have to be notable, just a name and money is enough in most cases Prices vary from $500 AUD to $10k AUD Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens costs $8k, and has a life of 10…

Your description simply states where the cafe is and that it is a place for socialising, but it doesn't explain why this place is special compared to the other 50+ cafes in that city. The article you link to talks about the opening of the cafe and how it's part of a city revitalization project, but it doesn't really give…

Unified POI Map for Wayfarers I agree about the map, however the cell and 20m distance rules need to be excluded. People shouldn't be submitting based on this information, they should be submitting on location accuracy solely. I don't care about the arguement that a playground might cover a few cells or whatever, this…

Have I missed something? I can't find any informative pages about the criteria? Just the Eligibility Criteria, Acceptance Criteria and Rejection Criteria pages (which aren't even linked in this release note announcement???) This is the supposed "big criteria update"??? There's nothing there, it's less useful than what it…

Niantic have lost the confidence of many people over the past year, simply by not communicating or managing the Wayfarer system effectively. Numerous issues throughout the year (sudden rating drop to red, no more nominations to review, etc.), the lack of initial guideline education (resulting in trash submissions) and…

Just to clarify, the name across is "Mornington Peninsula Shire" - the local council's name, not a park name. The supporting photo comment is a good point, without the nominated object in the supporting photo to show its location relative to other things, the supporting photo is useless. Also upon further inspection, the…

I'm pretty sure Casey has mentioned it somewhere, that generic rules signs are not eligible. The closest I can find is this comment - which also applies as this would be a generic mass-produced sign and not a distinct representative sign of the park. I've seen many similar rules signs appear in Wayfarer around the…

Prior to portal scans, I submitted photos on the odd occassion that I noticed a portal needed a better photo. Now that I am focusing on portal scanning, you have to locate the portal and observe it for a short while. This gives a greater appreciation of the POI and you take more notice of the details of the photo, title,…

From the guidelines: Well composed - the Wayspot or placemarker is centered without too much foreground or background, or objects passing by in front If people are going to be reviewing photos, I surely hope they understand the nuances of how the photo is viewed between all the different games and where they are cropped.…

I'm an odd one out, I love discovering new portals and max out my 14 submissions every fortnight - all of which I would call pretty good quality (war memorials, plaques, murals, historical info signs, playgrounds, gazebos, etc.) Even through out covid restrictions (5km limit from home, night curfew, only out for essential…

Actually that Cupid's Span portal is one Niantic use as an example or placeholder, as the actual wayspot is just a short stroll down the road from Niantic head office. I think that second one is also a placeholder. Could it be that your location is right on the edge of the larger s2 cell, and no new portals have gone live…

It would help to have the full nomination details so that we could give better feedback. But at first glance, it's not eligible anyway. Survey markers like the one posted in this thread are tiny and are generally scattered around every 500m+ (so there could be thousands, if not, millions in your region). They are extremely…

If the reference is relevant to the POI, such as your example of a Gyrados Mural, then yes that should be acceptable because it is explicitly relevant to the nomination. However, if an in-game term or franchise reference is made unnecessarily, then that would not only devalue the nomination and the wayspot as a whole but…

In my experience that anxiety is unwarranted if you make a high quality submission in the first place (which you claim to be doing anyway). I've been actively working on my Scout Controller badge (Number of unique Portal/Pokestop scans) and have been continually submitting new photos to usurp old low-quality or generally…

The first nomination might have been too close to the existing church wayspot, which is why it did not appear in any game. I'm not sure why your second attempt was rejected, but here are some suggestions on how to improve the nomination: Refrain from including emoticons in the description text :) Take a better photo that…
