Decouple description edits and location edits
One of the biggest improvements that I think could be made immediately to Wayfarer reviewing would be decoupling description edits alongside move edits / identify best location edits.
I would say 99% of the time that I am presented with a description edit with a move edit, it is always the description with instructions. And most of the time, these description edits are, "please move the right to free the cell". They are just abusive move directions.
A description edit should be able to stand on its own merits. Ditto a move edit. The location should be obvious, without the need for any sort of description to point it out. If there are questions about location, local nominator can submit Google 360 photos or submit locations to Google for inclusión.

Decouple it and give it the same range as picture edits. Take it more out of local control.
Three examples from reviewing today of why I think description edits should be decoupled from move edits.
And another. Edit descripción And move location coupled together are just a way to give instructions to facilitate abuse.
AnD yet another. "Move to free up the cell". as a description.
YeT another example of a move request to free up a cell using edit description to make a move away from the POI.
I cannot be the only one seeing this as the standard for when edit descriptions are coupled with edit location requests.
They should be decoupled.
Please don't decouple. In my area, they are valuable together in helping to make sure I vote accurately
I would very much like to see these decoupled as a measure to discourage submitters from sending in title/description edits that try to influence which location to pick.
No, it's a misuse of a field.
They could include a supporting field for location edits, but I doubt they will.
Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water by trying to fix misuse of a field when not everyone is mis-using it. Again there are plenty of edits where coupling is very helpful. Surely there are bigger things that Niantic can focus on in fixing Wayfarer in general instead of decoupling.
Care to provide an example where a location and title/description edit are better evaluated together?
It's hard to imagine how a location/description edit is useful without it being either for abuse or for influencing the reviewers.
Even if the info in the description is useful, if it's not intended to be a description, it's still abuse...
Hello @purplepopple-ING! We have reviewed the report and have taken action on the Wayspot and the Wayfinder in accordance with our policies. While we are unable to discuss our actions in detail to protect the submitter’s privacy, they may include, but are not limited to, sending a warning message, placing restrictions on their Wayfarer, Pokémon GO, or Ingress account, putting their account on probation, or placing a temporary or permanent suspension on their Wayfarer, Pokémon GO or Ingress account.
Having said that, due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to take action on the Wayspot without the title or coordinates. If you have additional evidence to share, please submit the original location and we’ll take another look.
@purplepopple-ING I think that @NianticGiffard means you not haise lol
@NianticGiffard ,
Thank you for the reply. I am not particularly fussed about the specific examples. I report them as abuse because that is what they are.
My feedback is intended more generally as a design suggestion for decoupling reviewing of title / descriptions with that of move location requests. The two being coupled together facilitates and encourages abuse. It enables bad actors to give directions to others to move things.
At the very least, the word "celda", "pokeparada", "derecha" and "Izquierda "should be added to the blacklist for descripciónes because they are regularly used to give directions on where to put a stop for cell manipulation.
Other than showing repeatedly that there is abuse from large numbers of actors who abuse description and move requests coupled together, I am not sure how to make development feedback.
Another case where edit descripción used for abuse of move location instructions.
Another example of a move request to free up a cell that uses the edit description to make the abusive request.
These need to be decoupled so reviewers have to match based on location, not directions.
And yet another example. I wouldn't necessarily have an issue with the move itself but the coupling is a problem.
Liberate the cell by moving the POI says the description edit.
It is coupled with a location edit.
Location edits and description edits need to be decoupled. These are super common and opens up coordination for abuse.
Can Niantic please please stop facilitating location edit abuse by decoupling location edits from description edits?
That way, a person can look just at that move edit and go, "wow. Why is that so far away?" As opposed to having directions on cell abuse moves? I have yet to see such a coupling in a long time where abuse was not involved.
This abuse with coupled edit descriptions and location edits isn't just a Spain and Spanish thing. It is done in Portugal and Portuguese too.
Description edits and location edits need to be decoupled to prevent abuse.
I think 70 or 80% of the location edits I get around here come with a description change with instructions. 90% of them asking for cell optimization.
People need to be educated about the fact it's not acceptable ASAP. They just don't know it, or they wouldn't do it so openly. The apps should show warnings before confirming the edit submission or something.
Thanks for the follow-ups! We have reviewed the report and have taken action on the 3 Wayspots and 4 Wayfinders in accordance with our policies. Thanks for helping us maintain the quality of the Wayspots.
Third one while reviewing today.
I have also only been shown three move requests... so every location edit so far has been coupled with an edit description with directions for Wayfarer placement abuse.
Portugués/Portugal. Free the cell for another POI.
And another example of why descripción edits and location Edits need to be decoupled. Please move to the left to free the cell. Thanks!
(Reporting as abuse. Posting because any text edit with a location edit is a vehicle for abuse. programming wise, they need to be decoupled.)
The first thing I get when I go to review today Is a bad location move to an incorrect spot with a description edit asking me to do that to free up the cell.
These two types of edit reviews need to be decoupled. They encourage abuse.
For some reason, this edit makes me very, very made. I thought better of the Charleston, WV community until now.
Definitely decouple them and treat em like the Waypoint nomination list.
