Photo additions STILL NOT BEING ADDED

Hi, Niantic it's really not acceptable that after we'll over 6 Months photo edits are still not being added to portals. I have photo approvals from October last year that have still not been added to the game. Please make this a priority to fix, we are all wasting our time with adding photos that never appear.

Yeah, me too. I went out scanning in the snow. A few wayspots had awful pictures, so I submitted new ones while I was there. I was excited to see them on the wayspots, but it'll probably be summer before I will.
I don’t know what the problem is or how/when Niantic is finally going to fix it. It’s affected several of my own photo submissions.
But it’s got the same cure as the previous issues with Niantic-approved wayspots.
The new approved submissions (the photos) appear after they get a thumbs-up vote in Pokémon Go.
@NianticGiffard @NianticTintino This is NOT any kind of long term solution. And it’s NOT viable when the wayspot doesn’t even show up in Pokémon due to its distance restrictions. And for players like me, it’s absurd to make us travel to other cities just to have our photos show up.
I just went and looked back at my submissions, and there were two in there I had forgotten about. One says it was accepted 2 years ago, and one was accepted one year ago, yet neither one of them has ever gone live. If they were just approved last week I can understand, but a year and 2 years later? Who do we reach out to about this?
Hello @Shottix-ING,
Thank you for reporting and sharing. I have brought this up to the team for investigation.
Safe Exploring!
Up.
Please fix this one @NianticCasey-ING . Thank you. For me and my fellow agents: @NoRedBull1954-PGO @Gisyaka-ING @SweetUrine-ING 😁 Let us have better portal photos.
For me too! It's so disappointing and dis-incentivizing, to not see accepted pictures after six months and more.
I try to save keys to portals with an approved picture, so I can vote for my pic when it shows up. But, that's a lotta keys. And later I'll be cleaning up keys, and not remember the totally backwards reason I was keeping it.
Maybe Niantic wants fewer pictures uploaded, and this is their way to slow us down. Feels like another way to show contempt for contributors.
you need to tag someone else.@NianticCasey-ING has moved on to greener grass.
SweetUrine is an allowed name?
If you make a photo submission and the submission is accepted to the existing waypoint, you still have another step to get them into the game. You need to give the photo a thumbs up and likely would have to get at least 2 or more thumb ups from other trainers. If there is more than one photo for the waypoint, your new photo would have to have the most number of thumb ups.
The act of simply making a photo submission that is approved will not get the photo in game until you do the upvoting.
If you have gifts from the waypoint, you can send the gifts to other trainers. All they have to do is click the gift. Then click the postcard under the gift bag (do not click OPEN). This will open the existing photo for the waypoint. On the bottom right of the screen it will tell you how many photos exist for the waypoint. Click it then select the "thumbs up" icon. The photo will usually change the following day at 5 PDT at least based on our experience.
When I review, I often see the same photo or a similar photo that was submitted multiple times. There's usually one bad photo. My thought is people don't understand how to change the photo in the game and simply assume the approved photo will change it. It will not.
Example of giving a thumbs up to a gift from another trainer.
Once approved, pictures are supposed to show in PokeMonGO and Ingress. You shouldn't have to give it thumbs-up in PoGO in order to see it in Ingress. And, I don't believe that trick works in this 2021-2022 iteration. (Although it did last time Ingress had this bug, in 2020-21.)
Photos appear in the game but they don't became the main POI photo automatically. I recently added 6 new photos to some soccer fields on Deino Day since they had replaced the old signs. All were approved within 72 hours. I went there yesterday and none of the new photos are the main photo. The photos exist in both games. So I'll be sending out gifts and notifying friends on Discord to upvote. Worked a couple weeks ago when someone wanted to update a photo in PoGo in our community. I believe you can upvote in Ingress as well to make it the main photo but I don't play Ingress.
The people bringing up this issue are speaking only for Ingress. Photo sync has been incredibly unreliable since the launch of Lightship with both Ingress and Wayfarer groups largely ignoring it.
See the community specialist's last comment on the matter:
Continue to bring it up on the Ingress community forum. The Wayfarer staff has made it clear they aren't interested in supporting this area.
Hunh! To self-reference... I've been playing PGo for quite some time and had no idea you could vote for the images that way. You more you know...
@Gendgi-PGO That's a bummer. Every employee should be invested in providing an excellent experience to the customer and in driving customer-impacting issues to resolution. Making the team "aware" is one step, but that sounds like just throwing it over the wall and then ignoring it. (I'm not blaming Tintino... this seems like the way things work at Niantic.)
Definitely, I was in a small town and added a picture of the library so there would be a picture. It was approved 3 weeks ago but still no picture has been added in ingress. I am not close to this town so I don't know if it has been added to PoGo, it wasn't a PoI in PoGo as of yes since it didn't have a picture.
i reviewed something local today so could see what lightship was using. A nearby stop where I added a new picture shows the new picture in ingress. I have also thumbs up in pogo - no effect. It was the older pogo picture which showed in lightship.
This is a nuisance as it could cause complications if someone has updated a picture but lightship shows the old one which might affect decision about duplicate. For example a pub with new name . So I do think this is wayfarer relevant.
Please share your portals without updated pictures here - so Niantic has test cases, (a) to prove it's a problem and (b) to make sure the fix applies across the board: https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/12829/additional-photo-does-not-appear/p6
