Fake Wayspot observed during review

Sorry for the deviation of format, and the flagging of @NianticTintino @NianticOtoStar   but abusing WW2 monuments for use in a game is a special kind of low.

Title of the (fake) Wayspot: Struikelstenen Valkstraat

Location: 51.768702,5.546519

City: Oss

Country: Netherlands, the

Screenshot of the Rejection Email: N/A, observed during review

Photos to support your claim: Below the fake Wayspot and the real one. Proof in 'additional information' below. Notice the very same names on the monuments of both Wayspots, which can never be, in the case of Stolpersteine monuments:

Fake:

Real:

Additional information:

The address of the victims named on the monument tile is well-documented, visible on the sites below. It's Hescheweg 22 in the city of Oss, Netherlands.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWRtg1pLMic&t=427s : A walking route past all these monuments in Oss, watch at 7:02 onward in the video, it shows the address, house (which doesn't look ANYthing like any houses of the street "Condorstraat") and monument tile.

If you Google: Stolpersteine Condorstraat you get ZERO relevant results. There simply aren't ANY of these monuments there.

---

The above information caught my attention when reviewing the following, which is ALSO a fake (the real address of these victims are documented on https://www.joodsmonument.nl/nl/page/46656/houtstraat-14-oss being on the street "Houtstraat", not "Condorstraat" :

I flagged this as Abuse, but if you have the time, let the nominator know that their street is not some kind of convenient assembly point for jewish monuments in order to get their home-stops/gyms/portals/whatevers.

Here in Germany, this seems to have become a popular sport, especially in Pokemon. You can't count that many false stumbling stones. The photos are stolen from websites or other Wayspots, probably even exchanged among themselves and then distributed everywhere as Wayspot submitted. Stolpersteine from Berlin then suddenly appear in five different places across Germany. 700km away from the original. We have a place here in the area where a player has probably specialized in exactly that.

And he / she then submits the Stolpersteine several times in the same place and they are waved through.

    Example:

    https://intel.ingress.com/?pll=49.473269,7.665921

    https://intel.ingress.com/?pll=49.473787,7.671444

Same town, same stumbling block, two photos.

But I must say, I am pleased about everyone who reports these FAKE Stumbling Stones. Memories of murdered people should not be abused in a game.

    Thanks for reporting.

My thoughts exactly. When you get to know the stories behind them, it's impressive to say the least. And they have a habit of being abused by players here as well, this is not the first I reported. It really is low.

  • Hi there, @Jeroenix-ING! We have reviewed the report and taken action on the Wayspot and the Wayfinder in accordance with our policies. While we are unable to discuss our actions in detail to protect the submitter’s privacy, they may include, but are not limited to, sending a warning message, placing restrictions on their Wayfarer, Pokémon GO or Ingress account, putting their account on probation, or placing a temporary or permanent suspension on their Wayfarer, Pokémon GO or Ingress account.

Thanks for helping us maintain the quality of the Wayspots.

@NianticOtoStar Thank you for your earlier action on this sensitive subject, but these nominators have appropriated themselves yet another Stolpersteine monument to abuse as their home Wayspot:

Again on Valkstraat, Oss, Netherlands is this fake Wayspot:

Wayspot title "Herdenkingssteentjes WOII" at https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=51.76878,5.54771&z=17&pll=51.76878,5.54771

Compare this to the real one at https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=51.761167,5.526884&z=17&pll=51.761167,5.526884 (Wayspot title "Struikelstenen Wolf") and you'll see the same stones with the same names on them, meaning it's a duplicate.

The following link again shows the real, well documented location of this family's monument to be at Floraliastraat 56, Oss, Netherlands: https://www.joodsmonument.nl/nl/page/129257/louis-wolf

Please remove Wayspot "Herdenkingssteentjes WOII" at coordinates 51.76878,5.54771 and if possible, prevent it from happening again, as I believe people like this will keep trying indefinitely.

The fake has been removed, thank you.

WW2 monument abusers do not deserve a home Wayspot.

  • Jeroenix-INGJeroenix-ING Posts: 431 ✭✭✭✭

Twice removed abused Stolpersteine Wayspots have now been replaced with (probably fake) mosaic tiles in the exact same area. The lesson here: if you really really want your home Wayspot, you'll get it.

Well, at least they're not Stolpersteine.

@NianticOtoStar In light of the recent abuse in the Netherlands, I'd like to flag you again on this. Both multiple fake Stolpersteine are removed but replaced with mosaic tiles (of of which has a foot in picture).

Due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to review the Wayspot(s) in question. If you have additional evidence (geotagged images, photospheres) to share, please submit a new appeal with additional information and we’ll take another look.
