Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
If you reject trail markers if they are mass produced then most of the trail markers I know are not eliglbe. I think this rule does not apply here because you nominate the trail and not the marker. The trail marker represents the trail. And the trail is by definition not a mass produced object. The other thing is the… -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
Again: "As long as the marker represents a trail it should be accepted." There is no "if there is another one nearby, mark as a duplicate". There is no "if there is another one nearby, reject for being mass-produced/generic". There is no room for interpretation here. They aren't even talking about being eligible, they are… -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
All my opinion:Trails are definitely great for exercise and exploration. After all, they are made for the purpose of people to have a means of traveling by exercise whether its from walking, running, or bicycling. Trails can be long enough to cross an entire city and can also join or cross or continue near other trails. In… -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
September AMA (before 3.1 update): How should we determine which trail markers are eligible and which are ineligible? As long as the marker represents a trail it should be accepted. It should be something that is on the path of the trail, helps people find the path, has the trail name and is permanent. If it seems like the… -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
Duplicate should be used if the object is infact already been a poi. If there is an object within its direct vicinity visually unique would be the factor as in “can you determine within the surroundings of the poi that you are at the correct one. 9/10 most people can look and find the poi they are searching for and thats… -

https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/11174/hiking-trails-trailmarkers-whats-eligeble/p1 here you got a big discussion about this topic. Sadly, this topic is super subjective. You need a lot of luck to get any kind of trail marker accepted. Ill ask for more details in the next AMA... -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
Long trails: I totally agree with you. (and I don't think they would show up on the duplicates map anyway). The problem is I find a lot of extreme cases in my area. One was for an activity route for elderly people (approximately 1km walk in a loop) having 16 trail markers nominated... so to me that's wasting reviewer's… -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
They were pretty clear about it in the september AMA. "As long as the marker represents a trail it should be accepted." And since the criteria is now "even more inclusive than before", I can't imagine we are now supposed to place restrictions, that were mentioned nowhere, and would mean that fewer trail markers should be… -
Re: Hiking trails/trailmarkers - whats eligeble?
Here in Germany the trail markers will get rejected most of the time. I followed some discussions on this topic in various wayfarer communities. There seem to be four reasons for those rejections. The trail markers are mass produced. This reasons is simply false most of the time. Most often there are directional markers…
