Niantic: Please make an official statement on orienteering markers
For those who aren't aware, orienteering is a sport that involves using only a map and compass to navigate from marker to marker along a predefined course. It can be played casually, but it's also a highly-competitive sport. Most courses are set up for a specific event, but there are a number of permanent courses each with… -
Re: Upcoming Wayfarer 4.3 Updates - Discussion
Yeah, somebody I know had a trail marker seemingly rejected by the Niantic. It got nominated remotely before bed, doesn't appear in nominations page right away so goes to be in the hope of adding the information after waking up and by the morning (several hours later), it's been already rejected by Niantic. -
Re: Fahrrad- und Wanderwege
Germany is one of those places where it is still hard to have trailmarkers approved. There are several reasons why. German trail markers are often hard to identify as trail markers because they often look like street signs, or in this case are a very small sign attached to a larger street sign. Additionally, Germany rarely… -
Re: Non existing directional sign
I didn't notice the tiny s. I assumed the bridge was new. I think the satellite view is outdated. Maybe it is best to wait until that is updated and matches the current situation. It's not that weird that a marker is placed somewhere along a path where there is no intersection. It is to reassure people that they are still… -
Re: Strange accepted poi in The Netherlands

@YllwLdbttr-PGO just to clarify you are talking about A simple dogs not allowed sign. This is not any kind of trail marker and is not somewhere great to exercise, socialise or explore. Although a lot of wayfarer involves interpretation there is no grey area here and it needs to be removed. if you are voting to accept such… -
Re: 2nd wave of massive rejections in Germany

@NianticGiffard The abused junk wayspots are still out there, and they are still in the spotlight of the people in Southern Germany and Austria.... For example this one right now: Title: wahre Bank Location: https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=47.718698,10.319916&z=17&pll=47.718698,10.319916 Further there are lots of hiking… -
Re: Putting Removed Spots Back
Based on the articles, and what I can find online, I do believe that the 3 km ommetje tiles are legitimate trailmarkers. I couldn't find a trail map for the trail in Julianadorp, but I could find maps for similar trails in De Schooten. But the articles clearly state the trail is in Julianadorp. So the big issue for… -
Re: General bike/walk waypoint-signs
A wayspot only needs to meet 1 of the 3 eligibility criteria. It doesn't need to be a great place to meet (or to be social). It is a great place to exercise, and that is enough. You must also keep in mind that it is not always the object in the photo that is nominated. Sometimes it is an object that is used as an anchor… -
Re: Approved stop not shown in pokemon go.
Speelveld is in the same level 17 S2 Cell as both Church Bell and Playground Churchbell. I believe one of these is already in Pokémon Go, so that's why that isn't showing in Pokémon Go. It is still in the database though and is available in other games like Ingress. The other wayspot has been removed from the database. It… -
Re: Can "Third Party Text" become a rejection reason?
The spirit of the (former?) 3rd party text ban is to prevent stealing / plagiarism. It's a judgement call. And it includes thoughts such as these: Is the source like Wikipedia, or a newspaper, where words are their product - the thing they sell is text? Is copying from the pilgrim website taking something from it? Maybe…
