The problem with that logic is that Trail Markers are accepted. Moving along a trail to get from Marker A to Marker B, isn't different in any way shape or form from moving along a trail to get from Rest Stop A to Rest Stop B. Same truth for explore criteria. -

This is working as intended. Each game has a proximity rule which determines whether a new wayspot can be added to that game or not. Trail Marker in neighborhood?
Our Neighborhood has a few trail markers all the way around with encouraging messages on one side ( the walking side) and the speed limit on the other side for cars coming the opposite way, would these be acceptable? People walk, run, ride their bikes, and walk their dogs all the way around all the time. -

I've submit hiking trail marker and VTT trail marker (witch are supposed to be eligible, event without a name, according to Niantic's Rules) and get rejection for URL! Unfortunately, the OP photo of the Trail marker does qualify as a "named trail marker" and should be grudgingly approved. The "Public Footpath" marker in the post above should be rejected as it is not a named trail and is "mass produced & generic".
