Re: Trail Markers
My conclusion is - not every example of an identical trail marker should be approved. The overwhelming majority of trail markers I see in my submissions list are just a marker plate. They do not have distances on them, but in some places they do appear every 30-50m or so. One marker per trail evey 500m seems sensible, not… -

Trail Markers

I would like some clarifications about trail markers. Today one of my submission was refused: What? Niantic saif that trail markers are okay, so why this was refused with the argument of "not permanent"? (Trail Markers are here since many years) Or being sensible? (what? sensible? trail markers????) So Niantic, it would be… -
Re: Trail Markers
That is the reason why most cycling or hiking trails get rejected in my area. Trail markers are standardized over here which means they look very similar to each other. But there is a big misconception. Not the trail marker is nominated but the trail. The trail is neither generic nor massproduced. The trail marker… -
Re: Trail Markers
I don't put them myself and those kind of marker are the only one in use here and they are official: https://www.club-vosgien.eu/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/12554_Affiche_Club_Vosgien_A4_FR.pdf I don't understand why someone could think that i could put them myself... Especially reviewer of my region (and the system is… -
Re: Trail Markers
I think this is fine as long as you aren’t submitting every single mile marker on the trail. Right now, I am reviewing so many trail markers that differ only by 0.1 mile. It is wearisome. I started by approving accepting the first, and then the second. After about 30 of these ( seriously), I am recommending rejection of… -
Re: Trail Markers
So what is your conclusion? Regions with standardized trail markers cannot get trails approved. Those standardized trail markers look similar. But they are always different. The distances and the cities change. Every trail has a unique symbol or code attached to the trail marker. Those standardized trail markers are… -
Re: Trail Markers
i dont use that for an explanation of temporary. More than likely they though you may have just nailed up some signs you can buy from a store to a random tree to pass it as a trail marker. Again people hate trail markers lol. They are possible to get accepted but the more “generic” looking they are the harder it will be to… -
Re: Trail Markers
The photo above is fine, it ticks all the boxes for a "trail marker" and includes a trail name. Great. What happens when an identical trail marker is submitted 40m away, and then another 50m away? How do you evaluate these? The Waypoints visible on the "Nearby" list that show up on the check for duplicates map all seem to… -
Re: Trail Markers
So 1. Trail markers are eligible with or without names. Only problem is a lot, I mean a lot of reviewers generally dislike trail markers because they all say they are generic/mass produced (wont get into that). In the photo given i honestly cant tell what your trying to nominate, is it the arrow with the prop? Or is it the…
