Title: Bacuzzi Park Beach
Description: Grab some sun at this small public beach at Bacuzzi Park.
Supplemental: The beach is a great place to be social and to exercise if you want to swim.
Appeal Notes: This beach is an official amenity listed on the city’s parks department Boccuzzi Park site: https://www.stamfordct.gov/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/FacilityDirectory/68/507. beaches are great places to be social and to exercise - people go to them to walk, run, swim and meet up with friends. there is no beach sign here and it is a very small beach, so I anchored it with one of the three beach side benches (which would mee the explore criteria individuallh since they have a scenic view of the Long Island Sound) but I decided to nominate the beach because people are more likely to seek a beach than a bench.
Location: 41.033191, -73.544580
I’m just curious about the Niantic response:
Please resubmit with a sign mentioning the name of the beach. We recommend you review the photo guidelines before submitting your next Wayspot
NianticTintino once stated “Parks are great places to explore, exercise and socialize. A nomination can be made for a park even if a park does not have a physical sign but is clearly a park. If there is an obvious entrance or focal point, that would be a good location to place the pin, but equally the middle of the park may be suitable. The supporting photo and text should provide evidence that the location is intended to be used as a park or recreational area.”
(please refer to: Parks & Outdoor Recreation)
I believe this beach to very clearly be a “recreational area” and I provided evidence that the location is intended to be used that way via a link to the city official site of this park naming this beach as an amenity of that location.
I think the appeal review got this wrong. Should I just nominate the memorial plaque on the bench that I know will get through? Or should I just nominate the bench as a “scenic view bench”? I hate nominating benches, a beach is a much more sought after POI in my opinion, but that seems to be the direction I’m going to have to go.
