Accepted, but not on Wayfarer map or in-game

Let me start off by saying, I understand that nominations can be accepted on Wayfarer and not added to Pokemon Go. But what I am wondering is why I have had 3 submissions approved, but they are not even on the Wayfarer map. I see that the map has symbols for “in-game” and “approved but not in-game” but my 3 submissions are not on the map at all. It has been 3 weeks since they got approved. I was very careful to make sure that they were not in the same S2 cells as well.

There are no other points of interest anywhere near the spots I nominated so it is very frustrating that they all got approved, and none got added to the game. I can see the pictures of pins on the map when I go to my list of contributions and click on them, just nothing shows up on the actual Wayfarer map. I have tried changing the “Contributed by” selection at the top and zooming in as far as it will let me.

All 3 are around this area 33°30’14.2"N 117°09’53.2"W

Could there be spots in Ingress that are blocking mine from showing up that just aren’t on the Wayfarer map? Could it take more than 3 weeks to be added to the game?

Welcome to the community.

Decimal notation of the location is 33.503944, -117.164778

They are located somewhere, but not available in the game. Not sure as to why, but could be blocked at the request of the organisation tha manages the location.

Just want to address that Ingress has nothing to do with Wayfarer now since May 2025.

Ok thank you

Can I ask what map you’re using to see that? If my organization wanted to make that request, would it have to be directly to Niantic? If so, I think it would be highly unlikely that anyone from my company would do that, or even know to do that.

nvm about how long - just reread and saw the “three weeks”

I am using the Wayfarer’s map. But have installed a number of plugins installed. I will need to go into hiding after saying this, but you may want to search for Wayfarer Tools on your favourite Search Engine. There is a website that has the scripts and also contains an information on the unofficial Wayferer Discord Server.

A company requesting a geoblock on Wayspots would be made directly to Niantic. It may have been from the landowners, whether it be current or past.

It is very easy for a company to find the property owner form to request a geo block if they search online.

Oh I don’t doubt that, but I would be surprised if anyone here was like, “I want to block pokestops in Pokemon Go” So if I were to nominate other things that are maybe just off the company property, but in the same S2 cell as the spots that have been approved, is there a chance of them making it into the game? Like, is the S2 cell rule just for actually being placed in Pokemon Go, or is it for Wayfarer in general?

It will be down to the geofenced block zone, not specific spots where the nominations have been approved. So if there was a bench, for example, in the same geofenced location where others have been blocked, there is a high chance it will be blocked.

There has been reports in the past that the geo block stretched slightly further out than the property line.

If there is anything suitable, I suggest trying something away from this area. At least this will confirm that it is nothing strange with your account.

Good luck.

I’m going to assume there is no way to see geofenced blocked zones on any map? And are you saying that if someone did actually request to block this location, the block could extend outside of the property lines?

As far as I know, we as Wayfinders won’t know or see what has been geofenced blocked. That is something Niantic will need to decide whether we should see it or not so that we do or don’t submit things in those zones.

To answer your 2nd question, possibly.

Ok thank you. Are the S2 cell rules only for adding the spots into PoGo, or is it for all nominations?

The community has determined that the S2 cells are used by Pokemon Go to decide which Niantic Wayfarer locations to use within Pokemon Go.

The S2 cells have no relevance to wayspots themselves and on deciding whether a wayspot should be accepted. The only way they come into play is when you can see that a submission has been deliberately mislocated to appear in an empty cell.

The inclusion rules have never been confirmed by Niantic and is something that has been discovered to be consistent by the community. Other games may use similar inclusion rules, but it’s not something I have really looked at.

Ok so basically there can be many spots within cells on wayfarer that get accepted, its just when they’re deciding to put them in Go or not, they wont put in more than one per cell? Thank you

Very occasionally, an L17 cell has multiple pokestops and when queried on the forums, Niantic have said there is nothing to be adjusted. This means the “one pokestop per cell” rule that the community have observed is not 100% accurate, but the inaccuracy is not known so it might as well be treated as gospel.
