Hi everyone, I hope you can help.
I nominated this at the beginning of December and was accepted on the 17th but the pokestop has still not appeared in game? Any reasons for this? Is there anything I can do or anyone to contact for it to be put in?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Salut! The email you recieved says seomthing along the line that not all accepted contributions will be used in the game you play.
In this case, the informational sign is blocked by the Wayspot for the church itself. Pokemon GO uses a system of S2 cells, a net of rectangles over the world, and if there already is a Pokestop or Gym in such a rectangle, it is blocked from receiving any further Stop or Gym and there is nothing that you can do about it
Here’s a screenshot, the grey lines show the rectangle borders, also known as S2 Level 17 cells:
Thank you for the quick response! I don’t fully understand though. The sign is fully visible from the road and not blocked by anything? You also mention multiple stops in a singular square, lots of places have pokestops and gyms right next to each other?
@kawin240 doesn’t mean “blocked” as in “not visible in person”. Each of Niantic’s games has a proximity rule and for Pokémon Go, there can only be one Pokéstop or one Gym in each of those Level 17 S2 Cells (the grey box in the picture). So as the church already occupies that box, nothing else can become a Pokéstop or Gym in that specific box.
Each box is fully surrounded by 8 more boxes. A Pokéstop or Gym can be anywhere within the box, it won’t always be in the centre of that box. So it’s possible for two Pokéstops or Gyms to be right next to each other if they’re both on the edges of their respective boxes.
Ahh I see, is there anyway of seeing the boxes inside of the box parameters?
To support this, please see an example.
The gym is in it’s own cell and the PokéStop is very close to it, but also in it’s own cell, so they’re both eligible to appear in Pokémon GO.
How do I find where these boxes are please?
This is using an app called IITC, which uses the Ingress Intel Map, along with some plug ins.
