Additional Information (if any): This Wayspot is for a 21+ Bar making it an Adult-Orientated store(A rejection criteria) It also is between 2 major roads(5 lanes) and train tracks making pedestrian access difficult and potentially unsafe(Another rejection criteria) Lastly, it is also currently being remodeled and closed to the public - Google Maps
On Facebook, they call themselves " Hitching Post Bar and Grill" and describe themselves as a restaurant. In the details, I don’t see anything about having to be 21+.
We have seen a lot of posts with people specifically trying to get gyms removed. Do you have any evidence that you can give that it is currently unsafe due to renovations? I don’t see that with a quick search.
I can vouch that it really is a 21+ bar, having been in that area many times and having friends who’ve gone there before. They have food and host some activities yes, but it’s not for under 21s. I’ve looked around online a little and can’t find anything to prove it in writing tho, so there might not be a way to give written evidence on that. And I can also vouch that it’s not a super great spot for pedestrians to get to on foot. You could walk around the parking lot, but only after having driven there in a vehicle, to do it safely.
So, I can give some verbal confirmation on the above, but I’m not sure that that’s useful evidence for the process.
I guess I’m a bit confused about the cafe aspect. The hours of that appear to be daily until 6pm. And it looks like they sell tasty looking donuts too. Is that not part of the business? If so, that seems family friendly.
I have never heard of them selling donuts or having those hours. I do see one photo on their Google reviews of some donuts, but I have never seen them sell those in person, lol. The photo is 8 years old, so maybe that’s something they used to do, or maybe the wrong photo on the wrong review, idk.
But you do need an ID showing 21+ to get in the door. Oh, and here’s the hours. But again, idk if this counts as the kind of needed evidence for things. I’m just sharing the info I have is all, in case it’s helpful.
Yeah it might be difficult to provide evidence of the 21+ aspect since it’s closed atm. I’ll grab some pictures for proof of remodel tonight but the new ownership is renaming it to Lindsay’s Sports Bar and Grill so I’m not sure if the restaurant aspect is sticking around
On the topic of pedestrian safety, this is Utah so if you’re unaware there are almost no pedestrians meaning people don’t look. As someone who used to walk to work as a 6’1” 220 pound grown man I would have near miss situations weekly. I would never let my kid cross either of those roads without me. Tons of lifted trucks that can’t see anything less than 4 feet tall
Just realized that this is probably proof of 21+ only. In Utah, any establishment marketed as a Bar or Tavern cannot allow people under the age of 21 in.
Looked into Utah laws and it’s illegal to let underage people into anything licensed as a bar. And to be able to let patrons order anything alcoholic without also ordering food, it must be licensed as a bar
Pedestrian access is definitely not a problem and trying to use this to get a gym removed is a bad way to go. These roads even have sidewalks.
The bar renamed from Hitching Post to Our Bar Tavern, but as it still advertises itself as Hitching Post, that’s not a good reason for removal.
The only possibility is that children are not allowed. There is no evidence of this beyond your say-so and that is not enough to get any wayspot removed.
The Hitching Post is not a thing anymore, when the new owners started the remodel, they stripped all unique identifying features from it. Lindsay’s bar and grill, which it is now called has none of the things mentioned in the wayspot description. It’s also not say-so since it’s a law that to be licensed as a bar, and operate as a bar, you need to ID everyone who comes in. And to sell anything over 5% alcohol, you need a license as a liquor store or bar.
