Almost identical names of nominations

I come across dozens of nominations with practically identical names. The only difference is the address numbers. The descriptions are completely worthless; as one forum member put it, they’re “lazy.”

There are numerous playgrounds, the names of which differ only in the microdistrict and house number:

The situation is the same with exercise machines and sports grounds.

I do not have a problem with these titles unless the numbers assigned are arbitrary.

These are categories of objects where complaining that the names are similar is too harsh. If they were identical, such as just “Playground” or “Exercise Machines” or “Sports Ground”, then that’s different. If the suffixes have real meaning, so microdistrict and nearest house number, then they are eligible. The alternative is “Playground at [name]”, which syntactically is the same thing.

I would much rather have distinct names that are similar to each other, even if they are formulaic or a little bit bland, rather than having someone make up something ridiculous or non-sensical for them, like calling a green play slide “The Veridian Dragon” or something like that. It just helps add uniformity to the game and prevents wayspots from sounding or appearing misleading to players.

And although coming up with a creative title is not against the guideline, in fact it’s encouraged if no ‘official’ title is available, I still believe moderation is key, and that the masses tend to vote that way too.

Maybe the numbers refer to its block location?

Without running those through a translator, it looks like the descriptions all use some variation of a place for kids to play. That’s a perfectly adequate description for a basic playground.

Please. Move. On.

We know you hate playgrounds. You will not win this battle. No one in the worldwide community of Wayfinders agrees with your personal crusade against playgrounds as wayspots.

“Completely worthless” is certainly a take. There is, of course, nothing wrong with using house numbers to indicate playgrounds.

There is equally nothing wrong with the descriptions.

I have a hard time getting creative with descriptions for picnic areas. There’s only so much you can say. I typically just say it’s a picnic area at (insert location) located in (insert city). I might add an adjective and say something like “cozy” or “nice,” but this isn’t always needed.

Same could be said of many things that have multiples in an area: it’s not always easy to come up with unique titles/descriptions, so at least make them accurate when submitting. Accuracy is greater than creativity with Wayfarer.

Adding the building numbers sounds like a great way to help keep the titles unique and in line with submission guidance.

How do you propose these to be handled differently?

As long they point to correct block or location its acceptable . In certain area like singapore usually the play ground name can be like Playground Blk AAA. I have no issue accepting
