Appeal against the rejection of the report to the wayspot “Keangnam Cauldron”

Hello Niantic Team,

I would like to appeal the removal request for the Wayspot “Keangnam Cauldron”, previously located at Keangnam Hanoi Landmark.

This wayspot no longer exists in real life. The Cauldron statue has been removed completely, and the area is now used as a car parking lot, which is not suitable for gathering or safe gameplay.

The current location:

  • Has no remaining landmark or physical object that represents the previous Wayspot.
  • Has been converted into a vehicle parking area, increasing safety risks for players attempting to interact with the spot.

Because the Wayspot does not meet eligibility and safety requirements anymore, it should be removed to ensure accurate mapping and to protect player safety.

Please reconsider and approve the removal of this invalid Wayspot.
Thank you for your support and for keeping the Niantic map safe and accurate.

The cauldron is closer to 21.018453, 105.783811 and is showing on streetview images from 2022. Also, it is located behind you (slightly to the left) in the photo you have taken, so this photo provides no evidence about the status of this wayspot.

A photo to match this, showing the actual location of the cauldron, would be more helpful.

Okay, I understand. So, as far as I know, objects like this cauldron no longer qualify as POIs. Is it possible to remove them?

Why do you say it doesnt qualify?

If it still exists and is not on an individuals home and a few other access related points then it is fine to stay.

Was there an underlying reason that you wanted it removed ?

As you can see, the cauldron does not meet any criteria to become a wayspot, it is simply a place for people to burn votive papers, players can be in danger if they are nearby (burned/inhaled smoke, etc.)

For example, people in the surrounding area often burn incense here at this incense burner.

Or, I previously knew a friend of mine who was rejected for a similar nomination because they didn’t meet the criteria.

I dont see it any different than a fire pit, people should know to be cautious but its still an ornate piece to admire. As for the rejection, that was done by the bot system, doent mean they are not eligible.

I still think it should be considered removing it to avoid endangering players; after all, “don’t play with fire.”

There is nothing you have said or shown that fits with removing a wayspot. You have shown 2 ordinary people interacting with it and its purpose.
I appreciate your concern for the welfare of players but we all have to be responsible and the game warns us about that. So you can put this sort of concern aside. Is there any other reason?

maybe this stop is misplaced, as you can see in the video i go around the stop location but this is a car park

Thank you. Staff can look at that. If it is wrongly located then it can still exist but just have the location corrected.
Does this pokestop cause any issue for you?

hmmm, i just want the game map to match the real players around here because: (i) this is a fire place so players don’t often approach it; (ii) the location of the stop is not the same as in real life, so i walk around there and don’t see any real objects (other than the parking lot)

This is a fire pit, but the design is usually appealing enough to be a great place for discovering due to the design imo.

I don’t see it being ineligible at all.

First of all you said the entire area had been turned into a car park and the cauldron no longer exists. You provided a photo looking in the other direction.

Then you said the cauldron was dangerous as it was used for burning incense

Then you said the wayspot was maybe in the wrong place and provided a video looking in the other direction.

You really don’t like this wayspot and are looking for reasons to get rid of it, but it is eligible, it exists and it is physically at the wayspot.

There is a massive difference with “don’t play with fire” and using fire correctly.
