Appeal an Appeal?

Hi there. Ive submitted this former heel factory in my town and since it has historical significance, I thought it would be eligible. It is currently apartments, which to my understanding does not contribute to the factor for rejection/ being on private property. I have linked evidence to the previous history of this building and also included a link to another site confirming it is not private single residential property. The appeal got rejected for being ‘just a building’ and they suggest i should link evidence, which i did? Im just wondering is there a way to appeal an appeal.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums

Although there is no official way to appeal an appeal (apart from resubmitting), Niantic have told us that we can raise a post here in Wayspot Appeals when we strongly believe an appeal decision to be incorrect.

I have done this for a fitness gym, which resulted in the appeal decision being reversed and the wayspot accepted. Other people have had similar results. Obviously, this is no guarantee of acceptance, but it does mean Niantic will check their work

Excellent news, thank you. I take it this post counts as the ‘raise a post?’ Or will I need to contact someone in this forum? Thank you.

You posted in a reasonable place but this has been moved to the right place. If there is anything you want to add, you can do so. Niantic do read every thread but don’t always respond.

If Niantic do not respond within a couple of weeks, you can bump the thread, because occasionally Niantic forget to action things

Hi @Robertz74
Creating a post is the right thing to do although I will move this to the nomination support area as the appeals area is for a specific type.
I see the submission was made last year. Was the appeal recent?
Your post is not about having this reassessed from scratch but to raise a query over whether the appeal review was not handled as you might expect.
I would have voted positively for this if I’d seen it in review.

Oops. Wrong section but it has been corrected. I honestly thought Appeals was the right area, but I can see my Gym appeal appeal was in Nomination Support.

Yes that exactly it, thank you. I would like to reconsider this appeal. I made the appeal last week and inly just came through as rejected, though made the wayspot submission quite a while back now, just never got around to appealing it! Thank you for the reply and help.

Thank you for the help! Much appreciated

I’ve submitted several listed buildings in the past, and as you have stated that this is a listed building in your supporting info I was going to let you know how I generally format my submissions of such buildings. However, when I’ve checked the Historic England website, it appears that this building is not actually Grade II listed as you claimed.

https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/map-search/

That’s the Historic England map. The approximate address is 3 Grove Street, Raunds. I’m including this in case I’m failing to see something on the map that should actually be there - another pair of eyes always helps.

That’s not to say that this building hasn’t been noted by the local authorities as being of interest, as I did check out the first link in your supporting info, but you do need to be careful when making nominations that you represent them properly. If this had been a Grade II listed building, it likely would’ve been a little bit easier to help with getting it accepted.

Thanks for checking @hankwolfman
And you are correct, I would expect a link to the listing if I was reviewing any UK building that is listed.

Oh! Interesting. Thank you for clarifying and fixing my mistake. I vividly remember reading somewhere it was listed as grade II, though I must have mixed it up with another building, as there are many former ww2 shoe factories in Raunds! My mistake. Thanks again.

After seeing the comment about lack of actually being listed, and looking at the building, the rejection does make sense.

This is not a Grade II listed building, or any other grade of listing. The Northants listing explicitly says is not is protected or designated. You could try resubmitting but you must remove the claim about it being listed.

The building has no key architectural features.

ironically, the Co-op building just down the road is a much stronger candidate, but it its clock is already a wayspot.

I did wonder if this might have been the case. I did see that the Ernest Chambers Heel Factory on Park Road was on the list when I first started looking on the Historic England map.

Yeah that clock was one of the very first wayspots I’ve ever submitted. I always knew these ‘historic Buildings’ would be tough sells, especially if I cant get my information correct!

So maybe, (thanks to the help of everyone on this forum) I could resubmit, focus on the WW2 shoe factory aspect of it, and actually get my information correct about the listings and grades? Thank you again for the help

It was around 10 months ago that you submitted it so it is easy to get things mixed up over that time frame and websites can change or disappear ( though not the listed building one)
