Appeal Rejection for an objectively false reason

I nominated this portal 2 years ago and appealed the rejection early last year. The stated rejection reason was this does not exist anymore which is false. The PoI can easily be verified using Google Street View. The latest google images are from 4 months ago and it shows the nomination exists.

Here is a pic of the nomination email with the coordinates at the bottom, a pic of the appeal rejection reason(!), and some pics of the nomination.

10.291891 , 123.896336 is the pinned location for the nomination.

Google lists this location as permanently closed.

Can I ask where does it say that? This is a government facility. There are even new pictures of activities inside and outside the POI.

I have hyperlinked the page in my last response.

Sorry I cant see what you’re seeing.

For the sake of argument. Is it possible no one bothered updating google? I can even update it myself as most of the info there is outdated or incorrect.

Here’s a pic of activities inside the facility from the village’s own Facebook page.

That banner behind will match the one seen on Google’s Sept. 2024 Streetview Data.

There seem to be two Google listings:

The one shared by Aaron for the Basketball section of the Barangay hall, which shows as permanently closed, and can not be seen when looking at Google Maps without searching:

Then there’s the second listing, which seems to include the entire hall complex (and the mentioned basketball court): https://maps.app.goo.gl/Zp5eF6wKnCJCEXZ19

The sports complex also has an active facebook page, where they show that as recently as on 6th January, they held a basketball match there:

That means the information in the maps listing is indeed wildly incorrect. I have submitted a correction to Google Maps.

Edit: Funny, the correction got accepted immediately and can go live around 24 hours from now.

Google shows this as being currently open. There’s no recent Google Reviews, but that may be a red herring.

Their Facebook Page appears to be unofficial, so not affiliated to or the or owned by the Sports Complex, so can’t really take that as source of truth.

The Sports Center doesn’t have it’s own website, so it’s difficult to know much about the Sports Center outside Google and Facebook. I’m not sure if I could give Benefit of Doubt on this one.

This is highly unlikely to be permanently closed. It is a local government unit facility, likely maintained by the barangay unit as mentioned above. Most LGU facilities do not have their own official websites but the LGU itself can give updates about its use.

The location was explicitly mentioned being used on January 6. The most recent post seems to also be held inside the facility.

I can’t speak for Local Government outside the UK, but most UK Councils (if I recall) will have a dedicate page on their website for Sports / Leisure Centres they manage / own.

The facebook page can be added to the Google entry as its website. I’ve seen plenty in my years of reviewing.
