Appeal: Removal of Permanent Wayspot "Holzskulpturen" (Abbensen, Germany)

Hello Wayfarer Team,

I am appealing the recent removal of the Wayspot “Holzskulpturen” in Abbensen, Wedemark (Germany).

Title: Holzskulpturen

Location: approx. 52.568073, 9.605544
City: Wedemark / Abbensen
Country: Germany
Approval Date:** 2023-07-28
Removal Date:** 2026-03-09

Reason for Appeal: This Wayspot was wrongfully removed as the physical object is still present, permanent, and continues to meet all eligibility criteria.

  1. Physical Existence: The hand-carved wooden sculptures (depicting an owl and a stork) are still at their original location. They are firmly mounted on large, permanent wooden trunks behind a hedge.
  2. Permanence: These are not temporary installations. They have been part of the local landscape since before their initial acceptance in July 2023.
  3. Cultural Value: As a unique work of local craftsmanship, they serve as a distinct visual landmark for the community.

I have attached a current photo from today, March 9, 2026, which proves that the sculptures remain in place exactly as described in the original submission.

Please restore this Wayspot as it is a valid and valued point of interest for local players and explorers.

Thank you for your time and for reviewing this case.

Best regards,

FawkesAlex

If there is a valid reason for this removal that I have overlooked, I would sincerely appreciate a brief explanation so I can take this into account for future nominations. It is not my intention to submit ‘false’ Wayspots or anything that doesn’t meet the criteria, as I want to ensure my contributions continue to support a high-quality map and follow Niantic’s standards.

This appears to be on single-family private residential property (SFPRP) and is therefore strictly ineligible. It should not have been accepted and Niantic were correct to remove it.

You have stated it is behind the hedge, as confirmed by the photos.

Wayspots are allowed on communal property and at multi-family apartments, but not on SFPRP.

Thank you for the clarification. You are absolutely right, and I apologize for the oversight on my part regarding the SFPRP (Single-Family Private Residential Property) criteria.

I am still learning the finer details of the Wayfarer guidelines and will make sure to be much more careful with my future nominations to ensure they are on strictly public or communal ground.

Thank you for your time and for keeping the map’s quality high!
