Appealing removed gym "Royal Library Old Fountain"

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Royal Library Old Fountain
  • Location (lat/lon): 55.674178,12.581749
  • City: Copenhagen
  • Country: Denmark
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): N/A
  • Additional Information (if any): I believe the removal of this gym to be a result of the Waypoint/gym gradually being repurposed - perhaps abusively - and thus I am appealing its removal, hoping for it to be reinstated and restored to its pre-repurposed status.

In short: I strongly believe the Waypoint in question used to be named “Royal Library Old Entrance”, but that a new submitted photo of the entrance with the fountain in front has led to a repurposing namechange to “Royal Library Old Fountain”, leading to a removal, possibly for being a duplicate of “Royal Library Fountain”. The coordinates for this Waypoint are on the old entrance of the Royal Library.

Context: Over the past couple of weeks I have seen a lot of edit submissions when doing reviews in my local area that I believe are made with abuse. Some seem focused on moving certain Waypoints across S2 cell barriers, from outside school grounds to inside, etc. Others are repurpose-edits that change the focus of the Waypoint, e.g. changing the Waypoint title from a specific theater, to “statue outside [Theater]” - with the statue being removed. This makes me to believe the end-goal is to then submit a removal request (if the title edit is approved), given that the feature no longer exists at the location. I believe there is a pattern in these edit submissions and that they generally appear to target areas where there are 2 or more Gyms close together, but that might just be me seeing a pattern where there is none.

Specifics: When removed, the Waypoint had the title “Royal Library Old Fountain” and the approved photo was the picture below, which shows the fountain, with the building / Royal Library Old Entrance in the background. I believe the Waypoint used to be named “Royal Library Old Entrance”, which has also been the sentiment when I asked in the community. The Waypoint has been stored on PogoMap (PogoMap.Info - Gym - Royal Library Old Entrance) in 2018 with the exact same coordinates and the title “Royal Library Old Entrance”, as well as a picture of the Old Entrance. I am not sure which picture it had previously, or when it was changed to the one it had when removed, but I believe the picture to have been changed sometime during 2025.

While I understand removing the Waypoint in its current state, as I believe that state to be the result of - possibly abusively - repurposing the Waypoint, I hope you will consider looking at the history of the Waypoint, how it evolved over time, and if the Waypoint should possibly be reinstated and restored to a previous state. I also understand that reinstating the Waypoint does not necessarily mean it becomes a Gym again, but I do hope that you will consider reinstating it to a Gym too, both given its long history in the game (it appears present on attached screenshot from 5th of August 2016), and given - in my opinion - a pattern of abusive attempts to get Gyms removed, which this might be a part of.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the length. I tried to be as detailed as possible; please let me know if there is anything else I can/should add.

Thanks for the appeal, Wayfinder. There is another Wayspot connected to the same object as a result, this Wayspot cannot be reinstated.

This is not correct. The Wayspot was always connected to the fountain.

It it helps, the portals in Ingress (which inherited the same data but haven’t been changed since May 2025) show the fountain in both portals.

This is “Royal Library Old Fountain”, and while it is located at the entrance, both the title and photo are of the fountain.

Thank you very much for the confirmation. Weird that it existed for so long with an erroneous name, but good to hear that it is just me being mistaken.
