Are Waterbodies eligible pokestops?

happy new year everyone, I am asking because of 2 reasons: 1) my nomination has been declined 2 times already, and the reason after I appael it was: “The nomination was of a natural feature”. 2) but I am doubting because when you summit a pokestop there is literally a categories of “Waterbody” and a lot of sub-categories on it (lake, river, waterfall, etc) soo… are waterbodies eligible stops? if not, why is there a category for them, and if yes, why the reason of the appael being declined was “The nomination was of a natural feature”

Can you share your full nomination so we can further advice

Categories are not an eligibility list, they are merely for internal categorization.

yeah I can share it, just wait a bit, and on the “categories are not eligibility list” I had no idea, thought there where there for eligibility reasons, its kind of misleading

here is the nomination, if it is low quality i can send 2 pictures, but as you can see on the map view is a big body of water that even has the name on the map

Yes, it is misleading. For wayfarers, it would be better if the category was completely removed, since it has absolutely no meaning within Pokemon Go or any other Scopely games (nor in Ingress, which also still has it in OPR). Unfortunately, it’s there and it confuses people

This body of water looks just like a body of water and nothing else. The appeal is correct, but the appeal rejection “was of a natural feature” is not right, because being a natural feature does not mean something is ineligible (it used to, years ago). It could have been phrased a lot better.

Waterbodies tend to need something else, like a viewing platform.

Yeah its very hard to see the screenshot… but from what i can tell, a major hurdle is going to be that you dont seem to have a physical tangible point to anchor the nomination. Is there a sign for the lake?

agree, but if you scroll through the categories, you will find things like “elementary school” which are clearly not eligible. it is just for data purposes, and i wish they would remove it.

Just a side note, Ingress submitters don’t have to select Categories when nominating and I haven’t seen any on Nominations during my reviews in OPR/Recon, though I guess you can still select some if you want.

yeah, all not eligible categories should not be there  . the appeal rejection said just that, so that is why I came here to inquiry, so the answer to my question is: no, bodies of water are not eligible pokestops then, even dough natural features now can be. salixsorbus, do you know what other pokestops that are available categories are not eligible pokestops? like schools and bodies of water

oh so I need that to make a stop on a body of water, so the answer to my question then is: “no, bodies of water cant be pokestops”

yeah they should, but im am sure they wont, do you know any more things that cant be pokestops? (excluding the obvious like homes or things inside homes) like schools, and now to my knowledge bodies of water

Just generally disregard the list of Categories within Pokémon GO. They have nothing to do with eligibility

Focus on the criteria.
