Hey zusammen,
Danke euch!
Hey everyone,
I wanted to bring up something I haven’t been able to solve on my own—maybe some of you have experience with this or can help
In my area, there are two Gyms that are basically right next to each other, covering almost the exact same spot. At the same time, there’s a nearby PokéStop that would be a great alternative location to move one of those Gyms to.
Right now, the distribution feels a bit unfair, since other players in the area don’t have the same access to a Gym—even though there’s a perfectly suitable location close by.
My idea would be to slightly relocate one of the Gyms so that the overall distribution becomes more balanced and accessible for more players.
Has anyone here successfully done something like this or has tips on how to approach it? Or maybe someone wants to help push this together?
Thanks a lot!
Hey, you’re asking a Pokemon Go question here, not really a wayfarer question. Honestly, I don’t recommend trying to move anything that is already in a location that is correct. That can be seen as bad behavior and lead to account consequences, and even in the best case scenario, there is no guarantee for where the gym might move.
The distribution of gyms vs regular pokestops isn’t a Wayfarer issue, it’s an automated process within Pokemon Go.
However, there are three things you might be able to do:
-
If the item that the (gym) Wayspot represents is not where the pin indicates, you could get the pin moved.
-
If the item that the (gym) Wayspot represents is no longer present, or has substantially changed (such as a commercial building having a new tenant), you may be able to have it deleted, and then a new gym could be generated elsewhere within the size 14 s2 grid.
-
If the size 14 s2 grid doesn’t have three gyms (which is caused by having a total of 20+ Wayspots plus sponsored pokestops populated in game), you can add Wayspots to reach that threshold and spawn an additional gym.
Note also, if there is a grid boundary in play… it’s possible those two gyms are in different grids. In that case, adding stops might be much easier, since the second gym only needs a population of six per grid.
Hello and welcome @qryngle
You are welcome to post in whichever language you prefer. As there is no need for 2separate topics I have merged the posts together.
Right, moving the pin should only be done if the current location is inaccurate. For instance, I recently had one moved that was pinned on the building next door / across parking lot from where the artwork actually is. In another case, I had a pin moved because it was representing a mural, yet was pinned in the center of the room (restaurant dining room).
We are not told exactly how Gym locations are decided.
In te past it was mainly dependant on which Stops had the most photo votes.
It now seems that “random” has more influence (if not total).
Although this does lead to situations like the one you describe it is fairer than allowing groups of players to determine the locations which would obviously be abused.
