One of my friend submitted a wayspot with picture taken from Google. Obviously his nomination get insta rejected, however no warning was issued. May I know if he will be banned due to pass rejection(this happened about a month ago) or he will get banned only if he appeal the wayspot?
He was not familiar with the rules back then so this happen.
It is possible to get suspended if it is the first offence. Depending on the severity of the offence, it may be (and I emphasise may be) possible to get a perma ban. But I don’t know off hand if that has ever happened.
My recommendation is for your friend to read all about the criteria - what makes something acceptable and what is not acceptable. Assuming they simply had a rejection, they may not be in any trouble at the moment, so let’s keep it that way by making sure any future nominations are good ones

He didn’t get suspended. But is there a chance that Niantic suspend him due to pass offence? The rejection happen a month ago and no warning nothing.
So he is not in trouble for now? He will only get ban if he appeal it right?
Why would he appeal something he knows is ineligible anyway? Lol.
I do not know if he risks a ban so I cannot re-assure you on that front. But there is no risk with submitting good quality nominations within the rules so as long as he gets really familiar with the criteria and reaches out for help here with anything he’s unsure of, that should help

As well as the other advice it would be quite wrong to appeal something you know to break the rules so don’t.
By all means they should take their own picture and make a fresh submission.
If they or you need advice you can post the location here and we can advise if it is suitable before any further effort is made.
According to the Helpshift Abuse Reporting page, players can also self-report their own violations in return for a consideration of leniency:

By taking responsibility for your actions and demonstrating a commitment to improving, you may be considered for more lenient treatment.
Self-reporting would also help remove that looming shadow fear of sudden enforcement, I think.
