Hi. You guys have helped me so much that I’m back for more!
One of my upgraded nominations was rejected, then my appeal met the same fate. It’s a breakfast/brunch diner that’s massively popular. They opened in a tiny spot a few years back, but the lineups around the block forced them to move to their current, much larger location. They’re a mom & pop outfit, always packed, with tons of people also coming just to pick up their hot, homemade donuts and fritters.
Not trying to do a commercial here, though I realize it sounds like one. I genuinely believe the appeal decision was a mistake. Resubmitting will be difficult. It took me weeks just to get a photo without people in the way. Also, I have no idea how to make it any clearer that this restaurant/donut shop is most definitely not generic. It’s unique, and a great place to socialize.
Help! (And many thanks.)
I will move this to the general discussion area so more can see it and comment.
I think this kind of stuff is hard to prove, but maybe if you say this you just said here, about they starting tiny and them moving to a larger place because of the popularity in the supplemental informantion in case you resubmit it would help. If you try to appeal again, maybe you can link to some website or any kind of online source that tell their story.
Its sad this was not accepted and I would hope the appeal decision could be revisited
I recently had this accepted which is a very nice cafe but hasn’t won any awards or anything like that. Your nomination seems of a similar quality. I would have accepted it
How can I have an appeal revisited? The appeal response said to resubmit with more information. Unfortunately, that would mean I wasted an upgrade. It takes more than a year to go through the voting process in my area, unless I’m lucky enough to have ML pick it up. Plus getting a picture is really hard. If it’s daylight, there are always tons of people in the way.
There isn’t really a specific pathway to appeal an appeal. There is no option to appeal a second time. What you did here - posting the appeal decision - will sometimes result in a reconsideration when the appeal decision is clearly incorrect. That is not the case here. You will need to do what is suggested and submit a new nomination.
For your new nomination, provide links in the supporting to show that this is a favorite restaurant famous for their homemade donuts, don’t just say that it is.
The only other suggestion I can make is to square the main photo of the sign off even more, but not so much that you lose the context. That might make it more likely that the ML model will consider it acceptable. But your photo is good as is, so not sure about that.
You should be able to download the photo that you used back to your phone from your contributions page if you don’t still have the original. And then you can straighten and crop it in your editor. Then choose the “existing photo” option when submitting the nomination. A new supporting photo with it crowded might help but might not.
As for links to include, I couldn’t really find any featured articles, but you might link their Facebook page, which shows 4000 followers: Amy's Dejeuner – Breakfast, Lunch, and Donuts
You might have more luck knowing local resources, like we have a NextDoor app that has helped convince on some of my restaurant appeals.
Thank you for that information. I had no idea you could download the photo back. There really isn’t any info about them online. It’s all word of mouth. The only reason I know they had to move from their original, tiny spot is because it was around the corner from me.
Anyway, I don’t see the point in resubmitting. I have no useful links, it’ll take well over a year to go through voting, and I’m not about to waste another upgrade.
I thought that there was a way to overturn poor appeal decisions, and that doesn’t seem to be the case.
I do appreciate your reply, especially the extra time you took to check out their Facebook page. That was extremely kind. Thank you.
You can resumbit from home within 10km, if that helps?
A year is a looooong time. Im sorry
