Clarification on bus stops

I basically want to know which bus stops would and wouldn’t be eligible. I understand some bus stops get accepted, especially if they have something unique about them like a mural.

In my area, a lot of the bus stops are just little posts with a timetable/route that you just stand at while you wait. Previously I wouldn’t think to nominate these, but I wonder if I’m mistaken or if anything has changed, especially since some bus stops have been automatically added in some countries recently.

A lot rarer in my area are more ‘significant’ bus stops with actual shelter and seating. These are also usually outside of much more popular areas where people are a lot more likely to want to catch the bus (e.g. outside of a shop)

Basically, would all of these be eligible? Or just some? Or are bus stops a complete insta-reject without something else substantial about them?

And, as a bonus question, are there any other public transport related wayspots that would be eligible? In my area, only the local train station is a wayspot currently - otherwise it’s all pedestrian/cyclist stuff.

Thanks!

I usually reject bus stops, but accept transit hubs (where you see multiple busses at the same time)

Bus stops (and street corners) were added in some locations as an experiment to Pokémon GO.

This doesn’t mean all bus stops are automatically eligible. They still need to be a great place to explore, or exercise or be social with others.

I don’t think that if it’s just a bus stop with a timetable it would meet any of those so I would reject. Even the more “significant” ones you mention, people aren’t going there to be social like they might at a cafe. Maybe they’ll speak to a few people whilst waiting but I wouldn’t say to a friend to meet up at the bus stop to chat so would also say those don’t meet criteria.

Murals at the locations would be different as the focus is the mural, not the bus stop.

As for other locations, we have some tram stations that have been added, and we also have as mentioned, some larger transport hubs that are served by multiple buses and may have cafes and other things inside.
