Ran into problems with another seemingly surefire candidate from my most recent Wayfarer walk, this time a mural being marked as a duplicate despite none of the maps I’ve looked at indicating that there’s already a wayspot there (33.792341,-84.426304). Could someone confirm for me whether or not there actually is a duplicate here?

Not sure what maps you have been checking, but this is definitely already live at 33.793306,-84.426378. If it is mispinned you may want to ask to have it moved.
Did you check the Wayfarer Map ? It’s generally the best map for the job. The only other thing that comes close is the map you see when placing the pin if you’re submitting though the Pokémon Go App, but that only shows you wayspots within 100 metres or so of your physical location, so if you’re submitting whilst you’re not physically at the object, you can’t really use it to check and see if it already exists or not.
Huh, that might be why, it’s not even close to being correctly pinned. I didn’t see anything pinned on the actual location of the mural.
Though it seems by the title and description they’re mentioning the trail itself rather than the mural.
Both photos are of this mural/sign, which says “The Westside Trail” so I don’t see these as separate points of interest, just a poorly pinned Wayspot. You can use help chat to correct the location.
If you go to Help on the Wayfarer site https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help a text box will pop up in the lower right corner where you can request a location correction.
You already have evidence with your nomination photos that you can send them.
They reply in that chat box, not by email, and some people lose their chat history, so you may want to make note of the ticket number they give you somewhere if you have never used help chat before. I don’t tend to lose it, and know they have replied when I see a little number on the box.
Alright, I punched in a ticket for this. Maybe instead of being a powerspot in the middle of the woods it’ll wind up being a pokestop on the trail after all.
Alright sweet, that POI’s in the correct location now. Even though it isn’t my nomination, the pokestop that should be there is there now. Thanks!
And you can thumb the better photo to get that one changed to the disc photo. And get your friends to thumb it from gifts you send them if just yours isn’t enough.
And I just noticed that the description mentions “Pokemon” 
You can do a description edit, too, when you go to thumb the photo.
Yep, probably the next time I’m walking around that area. I’ve got what I need to flesh that out.
