Ci tengo a specificare che NON l’ho ancora sottomessa, proprio perché so quanto Wayfarer sia severo e, avendo già avuto un ban in passato, voglio muovermi con i piedi di piombo ed evitare segnalazioni per sottomissioni inappropriate.
Nota sulle immagini e posizione: gli allegati che vedete sono screenshot presi da Google Maps per mostrarvi il posto. Non avendo ancora avviato la procedura di candidatura nel gioco, al momento non riesco a fornirvi le coordinate precise. Tuttavia, se cercate su Google “Don Chisciotte Caffè Letterario Laterza”, potete verificare direttamente sulle mappe tutto ciò che volete, qualora preferiate fidarvi solo dei vostri occhi e non dei miei screenshot. Ovviamente, se un domani deciderò di procedere, mi recherò sul posto per scattare foto reali e fresche.
L’attività in questione è il “Don Chisciotte - Caffè Letterario” situato a Laterza (TA), all’incrocio tra Via Monte Santo e Via Roma.
Secondo me rispetta in pieno i criteri Niantic, in particolare per i seguenti punti di forza:
Punto di riferimento culturale (Socializzazione): Nasce proprio come caffè letterario ed è il luogo principale nel mio paese in cui avvengono regolarmente gli incontri con gli autori dei libri e le presentazioni letterarie. Ha un valore comunitario fortissimo, ben diverso da un bar generico.
Insegna e Impatto Visivo: Il locale ha un’insegna permanente molto caratteristica e unica (la sagoma gialla di Don Chisciotte su sfondo verde), ben distinguibile dalla strada.
Sicurezza: L’accesso pedonale è totalmente sicuro, l’ingresso si affaccia direttamente sul marciapiede cittadino.
Considerando la severità dei criteri attuali, temo che qualche revisore frettoloso possa bocciarlo liquidandolo come “generic business” (attività commerciale generica) senza capirne l’anima culturale.
Cosa ne pensate? Vi chiedo gentilmente un parere onesto e soprattutto costruttivo: cerco consigli pratici su come impostare la descrizione per valorizzarlo al massimo ed evitare problemi, quindi vi prego di evitare toni saputelli, polemici o paternalistici. Siamo qui per aiutarci tra giocatori!

The Cafe sign appears to be artwork on the front of a bookstore? I do see tables in front and people drinking coffee when I was taken to the bookstore from the search on the name above , so still likely eligible. But it may confuse people if the cafe is part of the bookstore.

Per chiarire la situazione: il locale nasce proprio con una doppia anima fusa insieme, ovvero è un “Caffè Letterario” unico. Non sono due attività commerciali separate (un bar e una libreria distinti), ma è un unico spazio culturale dove si stampano/acquistano libri, si tengono presentazioni con gli autori e, nel frattempo, si può consumare un caffè o sedersi ai tavolini. L’insegna stessa unisce le due cose.
Proprio per evitare questa potenziale confusione nei futuri revisori, secondo te quale sarebbe la strategia migliore quando farò la candidatura reale?
Intitolarlo semplicemente “Don Chisciotte - Caffè Letterario” (spiegando nella descrizione questa sua doppia natura fusa in un unico centro culturale)?
Oppure focalizzare la candidatura esclusivamente sull’insegna esterna come opera d’arte/elemento visivo unico?
I am not seeing that the Cafe as a separate business. So I would nominate the bookstore and cafe as one thing (using the name of the bookstore). But you could still share their history.
But you may have better resources. If so, please share a link to the cafe. And we can help from there.

I have made an amendment so that you should now be able to post further pictures and links.
I would focus on the place as a whole what a lovely ethos it has. It sounds great for socialisation but also if it holds events that would enhance it as a place to go and explore.
Both of those elements are about the business which does not sound generic at all.
I think it would be confusing to a reviewer if you then started talking about the artwork as a piece of art as that would be separate. So this would actually dilute the nomination by starting to mix very different things together.
I can’t see why submitting a place like this would cause an issue.
Rejecting something as a generic business does not lead to a sanction on the submitter. Many wayfinders find that their submissions rejected with the reason generic business ( very often when it is not). And there are no issues.
As long as you are truthful and pin the location correctly there should be no issues.
Having looked up the company it is a large bookshop publishing group. I think it is run as a franchise.
They do seem to encourage a range of events in their shops
The Events and Promotions area reports daily meetings with writers and musicians, courses, activities and promotions that take place in Mondadori stores throughout Italy.
Use the web submit method - you can use up to 5 images to support your submission.
So location context photo….but it is easily seen on streetview.
I would look in the store and take a photo of the events board - hopefully it will have a sequence of up and coming activities. This Will help demonstrate that it does more than sell books.
Same with the cafe area a photo or two specifically showing the cafe and signanage so that it is a clearly a nice social space.
So supporting images of events and the cafe to illustrate these social aspects.
I think of a generic business as one which is all about a simple transaction between customer and business of something ordinary. The aspects of events and a cafe are about a different kind of relationship with their customers and about a social space.
Your reviewers in Italy will be familiar with this bookstore group so be open and honest about what this is.
Volevo confidarti che ho un po’ di timore riguardo a chi si occupa delle revisioni dei PokéStop. Purtroppo si sente spesso di utenti segnalati ingiustamente, pur avendo presentato candidature in totale buona fede.
La mia paura è doppia: temo che il posto venga liquidato sbrigativamente come un semplice “business generico”, ma ho anche il forte timore di subire un ban se i revisori non dovessero comprendere la reale natura del luogo. Questo spazio non nasce come un normale bar, ma come un vero e proprio punto di aggregazione sociale per la comunità.
Viste le tue competenze, ti ripropongo la domanda: secondo te, come dovrei impostare la descrizione per far capire chiaramente questo concetto ai revisori ed evitare che boccino la proposta?
Ci tengo a precisare che, ovviamente, le foto verranno scattate direttamente sul posto e la posizione geografica sarà quella reale e super precisa.

A cafe to meet in - use the words to describe it based on how you feel when there.
Space that holds events - select 2 or 3 types of events and how often.
That is all you need in the description.
The supplementary can draw attention to what is shown in the photos, and why it meets socialisation and exploration. What makes this distinctive from an “ordinary” bookshop and therefore worthy of being a wayspot. Especially since this is part of a large group, i would acknowledge that, but speak about this shop,
It is better not to repeat what you have said in the description but to complement it.

Hi, you don’t need to prompt your AI to be “Focused on personal and emotional experience”. You also don’t need to use that much unnecessary fluff text - this is very hard to read and makes a very eligible nomination worse. What @elijustrying meant is that you can say all this in a few very short words of your own. You also need to include only true information, not things you wish were true. The Yellow Pages link and the TripAdvisor link your AI provided don’t include any evidence of events, TripAdvisor also does not have a single review and gives the location a very mediocre grade, so as far as a reviewer is concerned carefully curated weekly cultural events are not true, and I would question why this made-up information is included.
AI tools can be great, but as the submitter you remain responsible for the correctness of the information provided. If the AI made something up, you will be the one liable.
