Could I be penalized for accidentally submitting duplicates?

I have submitted several spots through the Pokemon Go app only to have them marked as duplicates. I discovered a few days ago that there’s a whole host of stops that have already been accepted but aren’t visible in the game.

My concern is, since I can’t see them through the Pokemon Go app, I don’t know which spots are duplicates until I open the Wayfarer map, which doesn’t work well on my phone on mobile.

Is it a problem if I nominate duplicates on accident? Should I wait to nominate a stop until I’ve gotten home to verify it on the Wayfarer map on my desktop?

Any and all advice is appreciated. I’ve really enjoyed this side of Pokemon Go (nominating and reviewing stops), and I want to make sure I am doing it right. Thank you!

Don’t worry, you won’t be punished for submitting duplicates. Only if you spam the same duplicate many times you could get in trouble.

There is a toggle on the first page of the pogo sumission screen that could help you see duplicates.

The pokestops have thier symbol but things hidden from pogo are shown as the red location mark.
