Denial of nominations are too arbitrary, inconsistent and overly nitpicky.
There’s so many stops that are similar or in the area with the exact type of information and circumstances,
or even less information or less photogenic, that I’ve provided,
yet mine was denied.
Very boring stops with poor photos or outdated information are all over the place but beautiful accessible locations with great photography and engaging information is denied.
Makes no sense.
Wastes our time and enthusiasm to nominate and won’t be doing so anymore,
it’s disappointing and there’s so many boring and unnecessary stops, like a marker in the middle of a busy traffic street
Fisrt, never use what is already on the map as confirmation of what is currently acceptable. They could be old nomination when criteria was different, a database import direct by Niantic that do not match criteria or abuse which should be reported for removal.
If you would like advice on a specific nomination that you believe should have been accepted please post the details. Photos, Title, Description, Supplemental and Location.
Alternatively, Post your general location (DO NOT USE YOUR HOME ADDRESS) and people will make suggestions.
You do have to be aware that not everywhere has suitable locations so you may have to accept “Nothing Here”.

I fully understand the frustration. My first 9 nominations were all rejected, and I did not understand why, especially when I compared them with what I see in the game.
After having reviewed thousands of nominations, I do understand that my nominations were actually very bad.
I learned a lot at this forum, and even though I have taken a break from submitting, I’m now usually succesful in getting my nominations accepted, even though I often do need to appeal.
My advice is, don’t look at the bad wayspots in your area, but to focus on the really good wayspots (so a really good place to be social, exercise, or something really interesting to explore). In general, ask yourself is it something you would recommend to your friends.

Yes I nominate my favorite spots that I usually go to regularly, and that I would recommend to friends, and there’s no actual existing stops there. I don’t look at the virtual map, I’m just physically there and I see and use the stops that are up.
There may be other stops in the area that exist with very similar or same criteria and descriptions, so I don’t understand when viable nominations get rejected.
There’s so many lovely and interesting, fun and scenic accessible safe places that do not have a stop, and hope to have them included.
wish when people photograph signs they can angle the shot better so we can also see the pretty views around the sign.
Make sure you have a good argument that the location encourages at least 1 of…
- being Social.
- Exercising.
- Explorer.
Just being able to do these is not enough as this would be just about anywhere.
A common 1 is a standard bench, You could argue that “I walk (exercise) to the bench (exploring) as I go along and sit there with my mate (social)” but the bench is just somewhere to sit.
Social: Family Restaurants (Not usually common franchise locations), Picnic areas…
Exercise: Sports Grounds, Parks, Gyms.
Explore: Churches, Walking Trails.
