Denied due to “Duplicate” but there’s no stops

Why are nominations for stops denied due to being a “Duplicate” when there’s no stop existing there?

Welcome to the forums

Most of the time this is because there is a wayspot there, but you didn’t notice it. Not every wayspot is visible in Pokemon Go, so you have to look on the Nearby map when submitting to check for duplicates, making sure you have turned the toggle on to show existing wayspots.

Alternatively, have a look at that location on the wayfarer map, which is at Niantic Wayfarer

Hello @avangelique7
Have you got a specific instance you would the community to look at so that we can see what the issue was in that case, which might explain more.

I’ve had 1 successful submission and I didn’t think my other ones were all that different in how I chose and posted it!

What bothers me is that there’s so many stops that can be disqualified but they’re up, especially with poor photography, very little information, or it’s obsolete and no longer there, the object or location of interest.

When I may perhaps I will share the denials and get feedback. 1 of the denials I can agree with because there was a person’s face in it too closely. There’s many stops I’ve seen with people photographed too and they left it.

There was one favorite stop that had a great picture of a dog, but it got removed; it was so cute!

Thanks for your input

There are things you can do.
If the photo is not good……and some are quite old and phone quality has come on leaps and bounds…… you can take some new ones to update it.

If it no longer exists you can report it for removal and hopefully find something much more interesting to submit.

If the text is poor you can edit that.
