"Disappearance" of a Pokestop?

    1. 2024 - I nominated and boosted the nomination for a stop named “Lanterns of Love”. The nomination was accepted and I waited for the stop to be added yet it never appeared (I am aware stops can’t be close to each other but this stop isn’t on the INGRESS/Wayfarer map at all despite it being accepted). Shortly after the nomination I made a break from the game and now coming back I chose to report this issue. The stop is a permanent display in a park and has been there for 2 years but I suspect the issue rose in it being holyday looking so it might have been flagged afterwards as a “seasonal display”? I’m unsure if this should be posted in the Bug Report or Appeal section so sorry in advance if this isn’t in the right place.
I’ll attach the nomination here as well as a photo showing it still there (in case proof is needed).

Hello and Welcome,

First, please note that Ingress is no longer part of Wayfarer / Pokemon Go so anything nominated in the last year through Wayfarer will not be shown on the Ingress maps.

Do you still have the original email you received when you first made the nomination, this will have the co-ordinates.

I believe I have found the correct location but I don’t see either the location (but this could be due to older street view) or your waypoint.

Good Luck.

This was first discussed on the Wayfarer Discussion Discord and we advised to ask about this here. The information that it is not on the Ingress map is relevant because it was from 2024, before the split.

Thanks for the quick response, poking around I found my old email, here I will attach both the nomination notice as well as the acceptance letter

Hello

I can’t give an answer on what happened originally since we don’t have access to that data.
Since you raise the concern around a possible perception of temporary, it would be helpful to have a geotagged up to date photo - day time would be best, to show that they are still at that location.
Since it was 2 years ago and there is no recent google image it would seem reasonable.
Is there a reason that it wouldn’t just be better to do a fresh submission at this stage. I understand the wish to understand what happened previously, but it might be easier?
I think a block is unlikely as there are 2 nearby wayspots.

I thought the standard advice was to ask for reinstatement before resubmitting since we don’t know the reason for removal. That is what we recommended on WDD. We had suggested making an appeal here.

We also discussed getting the coordinates from the email. Glad you found it. That puts the pin here, where it is not eligible to be a pokestop. (I had forgotten about the way the gps coordinates used to display on the emails with the missing periods.)

That was a clever way to show the lights currently exist with the note in the photo =) I agree with @elijustrying that if staff do not restore this, it could be resubmitted. Staff will have user names here that begin with “Niantic” fyi.

Thanks for explaining this all! If I understood correctly I should now wait for staff to respond to this thread & add a daytime photo of the location and in case they do not respond I should make a new appeal (which cannot become a pokestop regardless?)
If I’m wrong somewhere please correct me and thanks again for the advice!

It can be an appeal for reinstatement ( approved but never live is an unusual case) and I will move this to appeals.
But for a reinstatement, current geotagged photos is the advice we give as standard as staff will want to see it still exists where you say it exists especially given time gap.
I did wonder if having to go and take photos and that it wont appear as a stop but might be considered as a powerspot a fresh submission might just be as easy. But that is up to @Kaight3000 to decide when they go to the location and see the current situation - there may be other new things to submit :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
The staff will respond to this topic, no need for a different one.

Cannot currently, because there is already a live pokestop in the same cell. It could become a pokestop if the other one is removed.

I’m just gonna add the pictures of the location in daytime as @elijustrying suggested.

I think that is really helpful. Just wait patiently for the wayfarer Team to see tpwhatvthey say .

They added it to the map)

Thanks for the appeal, @Kaight3000! After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to restore the Wayspot in question.
