Duplicate Wayspots with no photo/description showing "Submitted 1 year ago" on Wayfarer Map

I found two duplicate entries on the official Wayfarer Map (Niantic Wayfarer).

Names

  • SUB 954
  • Sub 954

Coordinates

  • 41.163073, -8.624729
  • 41.163080, -8.624732

Both entries:

  • are at virtually the same location
  • display only a title (no photo or description)
  • show “Submitted 1 year ago”
  • are marked “Not in game”

The location is a specialist vintage bicycle restoration business that has existed since 2012, so the object itself is legitimate.

I originally noticed these while looking into whether the location could become a PokéStop. However, after seeing the duplicate entries on the Wayfarer Map, I became more interested in whether this is expected behaviour.

Is this a known issue, or do these appear to be duplicate/incomplete Wayspot records? If they are invalid or incomplete records, is there any process for having them investigated or corrected?

These sound like imports for the powerspot rollout. On the map you can filter by “community contributions” and “all”. See if they dissappear when you just see community contributions. The imports included many duplicates, misplacements, no photos, and are sometimes for businesses that are explicitly banned.

Can confirm they only appear with “All” or “Other” filters so your theory is likely correct. It currently has no power spot but it could just be out of rotation.

These are duplicate Wayspots.

Yes, you can report them for removal through in-game reporting, Wayfarer map, or the Wayspot Removals webform.
