Erring on the side of no...but

On my rounds of finding stuff for me to submit only to disappointed, I found this.

It’s a Grade II listed building and was the place for Sugar Loaf Beer in Harrow. I am not 100% sure if this is a SFPRP or a business being run within the building. It’s listed in Historic England’s website as a Grade 2 listed building, so there is some history to it.

I am ready to be disappointed but am wondering if this could be a worthy submission?

Have you looked at Zoopla or other house sale sites to see if it has been listed for sale recently as a residential property? That helps me sometimes

According to the info in the window, the same people have been in the property since the 70’s. (Apology for the poor quality screenshot)

Whilst this pub is a historic Grade II listed building, does the pub come under the definition of being an adult-orientated business making it ineligible to be a wayspot?

No. Pubs in the UK, unless advertised accordingly, are aimed at Families. Bars in the UK are adult-orientated and therefore not eligible.

You should definitely submit a nomination then emphasising the history of this building including the previous weblink in your supporting commentary) and that it is a gathering place to socialise with others

Yeah, agreeing with @P1dg3ySlayer here.

UK pubs will serve food and have a kids menu, otherwise they won’t be profitable, so families are welcomed.

Forgot to mention, no references on Zoopla regarding this house being up for sale (recently or currently).

Currently sat in a bar surrounded by children and dogs. Thry even have colouring and games for the kids while the adults drink their wine. Lots of bars in the UK are also family friendly :joy_cat: Never been in a pub that wouldn’t allow children.

Well, that’s just Hackney style… surely?

I just remembered reading it so thought it would be funny to add

Mind you, as someone who doesn’t have kids but likes a pub quiz they can be annoying when parents “don’t know how” / “can’t be bothered” to look after them. :frowning:

In my local, in the main dining area, the floor boards are wafer thin to the point where I feel that we are about to get an earthquake… especially when kids run around the dining area. :man_facepalming:
