For the first time in recent memory, I had a dog park get rejected, including the appeal I immediately put in for it. It didn’t even reach voters, as it was rejected by an internal Niantic/Scopely review prior to me submitting an appeal. Their initial rejection reason was that it “lacks uniqueness” and on the appeal rejection they called it a “common feature”, but it’s a dog park. They’re pretty great places to socialize and exercise with the pups, and I’ve gotten numerous others just like this accepted before, and meeting 2/3 of the big acceptance criteria is more than enough to make it eligible, so I’m not sure what the holdup here is on the internal review. I’m sure this can get resolved in short order, though.
Title: Chelsea Westside Dog Park
Description: The dog park at the Chelsea Westside Townhomes complex.
Support: Dog parks are amazing spaces to socialize and exercise with your furry companions!
Would it be possible to provide the co ordinates for this please?
We don’t have many in the U.K. so there is normally a sign of some description. It I am wondering what this looks like on satellite / streetview.
I can see a bin for the waste but first impression from the screenshot of the photo is not clear what it is - this may be me lacking experience of clues what these typically look like where you are.
I am guessing it will be 33.7907892962947, -84.42544536361547
Oh yeah, here’s the coords (33.791332,-84.424867). Not all of the dog parks I come across have signage, but you know one when you see one when you see an enclosed fence area with a dog waste station and a couple of benches (and oftentimes some play equipment for the pups, just not at this one).
And fortunately the street view is up to date at this complex, so you get a really clear view from another angle.
it might simply be that the photo is not the best one you could have used.
You can probably get a much better photo, that would make the dog park actually look attractive and interesting (in so far as a dog park can be attractive), focusing on the seating for example.
This photo is awkward and focuses solely on fencing, My first reaction to it was “eugh” and you don’t want that to be what reviewers think, since it can be hard to overcome that.
Dog parks like this can be hard to photograph, particularly when they dont have a sign. They are intentionally minimalistic so that they blend into the area. They are just a black fence around a bare piece of ground (red dirt in our area). Like he says, there may be seating or a piece of play equipment inside, or there may not. Sometimes the play equipment almost looks like a young kids playground (to someone who doesn’t have kids or pets).
Most people in our area recognize them easily and accept. I would just resubmit and assume different reviewers will do a better job.
It is helpful to see the streetview thanks.
If I am reading this correctly it was initially rejected by internal review, and then appeal team.
I would suggest taking on board what SeaPrincess has said.
I think it would benefit from websubmit so that you could illustrate several angles to show the area more. There is always the chance that your submission wont be viewed by locals who instantly recognise what it is and structure your supporting to point out the key features in lieu of signage.
I think just backing up a bit to show the unique dog park style entry gate may help.
I didn’t have any issues with this one that did not have a sign.
(I wonder if the grass not being green confused them?)
