Zero evidence there is a street art mr men trail that I could find online nor a Silkwood art trail… Also if an official trail would expect to copyright symbol.. Just saying replicating without recognition (etc etc) is a legal issue anyway and I would not support it anyway if it were a real painting - as that copyright is an issue…
The steet view does show an access lid in the street near the POI (( the lid )) is the thing Mr Greedy is painted on (see in first picture). the other POI bottom of map view. Was also a Little Miss. It too was on a ““manhole”” (Access lid that might be in second picture)
Supporting photo did not show manhole in context to its surroundings either. Just some grass around it. So was really hard to say if the same one!!!
I call it something not real. But love to get other views. Cause if I am wrong - need to learn
And if right then questions around the other noms that appear to be in the DB
Thoughts please in case I get another one.
Note: Modified text as further research showed an access lids in the street.
Sorry @RoIi112 moved on - it is here - or not as the case maybe Google Maps I have modified my original post as I found at least two access lids in the street in street view. Not sure if they line up with POI but lids do exist. Sadly no paintings on them in street view.
I can find no evidence of a street art view trail in Silkwood. Nor any Mr/Miss Men trail. And as I said the supporting photos provided zero context which was frustrating as they could have proved where the access lids are…
I’ve seen a few of these too and have been reporting them as fake. Supporting photo never shows both the manhole and the surrounding, it’s either just the surroundings or the manhole from the same angle but zoomed out a tiny bit. Street view usually doesn’t have a manhole. And the pictures look so clean - no sign of dirt or weather wear.
This is only a crop of your review page, but looks extremely fake to me.
Very likely that it’s the case of the approved one on the nearby too, so looks to me like the submitter is the one being Mr. Greedy.
@TheJunster2two Yes spot on. A bit further away with more grass around it. BUT zero context. Just a bit of lawn. So no trees, housing, road and no ditch. And if google street view correct that fence is very very close and that was mssing…
The first one I skipped because I was in the middle of improving my rating and wasn’t 100% sure that I would agree with the community. Pretty sure it was the blue one you can see in the screenshot, but I might be wrong.
And the second one (this one) I rejected for Accuracy→Bad Photos+Inaccurate Location because I couldn’t find any part of the nomination on the maps and they made no effort to prove it existed…
I’ve been seeing quite a few AI nominations lately
I’ll admit, I haven’t… I mostly wanted to express my outrage
It’s just so time-consuming to fill out that form, especially when I need to use that silly “duplicate” map to figure out the information about the wayspots I’m reporting
Next time I get one from Silkwood, I’ll fill one out.
Seems like a bunch of way spots have already been removed there (this yellow sign is actually visible on street view so not fake?). I still picked up on some potentially ineligible things, but since I am not from Australia I can’t quite tell. What do you think?
Now that the wayspot map has been released, this is super easy to do. I’ve just gone through them
Anzac mural: removed
Anzac pole: removed
Rainbow serpent: reported for private property
Silkwood railway: no action as literally everything about it is unclear
Cancecutter Way: no action, probably unsafe but there is technically a grassy area there
Welcome to: reported for unsafe access
Stratvell state: interestingly, i don’t think a current school operates here. when i looked up “stratvell state school”, the top result was for https://silkwoodss.eq.edu.au/ which is located at 318 Silkwood Japoon Rd which is definitely not near where the heritage mural is. I can’t figure out why there is a mural in the middle of the bush or how anyone would access it besides walking along that train line, but
school commemorative: same story. in the middle of nowhere apparently next/on top of someone’s house.
Should i report #7 ?
anyway, thanks for writing that up!! It made it tons easier for me to figure out what needed to be checked/reported
