Yes - that one is fake too. No Little Free Library there.
I have reported several which are obvious, Nothing on street view over many years, Statues and memorials that would completely block the side walk if they where real.
This LFL will definitely need someone âon the groundâ as unlike the others it isnât as obvious that it couldnât be there.
Would suggest using a free app called âGPS Map Cameraâ which will add the GPS data on to the photo, take several images from different angles at where the waypoint is supposed to be which can then be used as evidence.
Good luck.
I have left it till the map has updated twice and this one is still showingâŚ
âThe Little Reader of Kenwoodâ
39.355141,-76.513905
Has been removed from the map.
Not updated on the map yet but received âReport Acceptedâ emails for the followingâŚ
The âIdle Manâ Statue Update: Now removed from map.
World of Unity Heart Update: Now removed from map.
Kenwood Rainbow Beacon Update: Now removed from map.
Bus Leader Statue Update: Now removed from map.
Lillian Holt Memorial Sculpture Update: Now removed from map.
I have received a Rejection for âKenwood Little Free Library #2â so @KnittingCritter You might want to take some GPS Tagged images for this one.
Recently I reported a bunch of stops and I got my first email back stating it was rejected. I found your post to see if it would be any help. I think Iâll wait for all of them to come through before I reach out for more help. But just like you once I got that first email of rejection itâs a bit discouraging. We are out here trying to keep things right and it takes even MORE effort to get on here for them to take a second look. Are they even taking a first look?
Recently while reviewing, I noticed someone submitting stops in a familiar area and I knew they were not putting them in the right locations. I took a long drive to that area to report these stops. I even had to pay $10 to get into an area just to get close enough to report one! I donât want to post these publicly since my name is attached to these community posts, but it just seems itâs so much effort to try to correct false nominations. And they will probably be right back at it. Thinking maybe I should just give up, why do I even care this much anyways. Maybe someone could just remind me why we should care? Iâm all for the principal but why make it this complicated to fix something that is broken?
I understand the frustration. My first-ever removal report, done in-game, was rejected and I had to post on the old forum to find out why - streetview still showed it. I never had an opportunity to show it was no longer there.
I didnât do any removal reports for over a year after that, as it was very discouraging to have to go through a lot of effort just to get something removed, when that removal didnât benefit me. I understood why it was necessary for Niantic to know something doesnât exist before removing it, but the effort-reward ratio was just too much.
More recently, I have been reporting things remotely using the wayfarer map. Where evidence is needed, because something could theoretically exist, the removal rejections are frustrating.
If there is a batch of fake wayspots, it is worth batching them and reporting them together, as that helps Niantic identify the source and maybe prevent a re-occurrence. I donât have the right links for that to hand.
I just got more rejections come through. Thereâs no way I just went through all that trouble to have some automated robot decide to reject these. This is not right.
Yes it is a batch of stops someone was putting in random locations, obviously they are familiar with how the cells work. I have pictures of the real stop and the real coordinates, in which I submitted with my report.
Someone remind me why this is even worth my effort
Anyone know the next step or the link for me to report all these stops within one report? My app has some things in an Asian language so I am unable to see what they say but i think the link might be where the language is wrong on my app. A link would be appreciated.
@cyndiepooh Tagging you as I know you have the right information for batch-reporting ![]()
If I have a lot of wayspots to report, I use one of the forms linked at the top. I prefer the one linked under âReporting Abuseâ as easier to use. If you arenât seeing the link, it goes to here:
Thanks - I have added this to my notes ![]()
Part of the advantage of using the reporting form is that it starts an email chain.
Ok, got it! Iâm waiting for a few more to come through and then Iâll re-report through this link. But thatâs it. After that, Iâm done. Too much effort to try to make things right, itâs disheartening. The time, the gas it cost me for the trip, the physical effort, the money I paid to get close to the fake nominationâŚin comparison to the person that submitted all these probably put in no effort and will probably do it again! Niantic is making me have to put more effort in, for what? Really questing why even do this. Why do we care so much if thereâs a fake stop? Itâs about to not be my problem because honestly it really never was.
Hello,
Please Note the following when reporting âFake / Incorrectâ waypoints.
- The removal criteria differs from the acceptance criteria, If you report a bench as itâs just a standard memorial bench and should not have been accepted we donât know what the nominator said and could have sold it as more than a standard memorial bench.
- Niantic have to be careful. They can not take your word against someone else. People will report waypoints just to get their own on the map so you might need evidence.
- The ones that I have mentioned above where things like statues that would completely block the side walk and have not appeared on street view in almost 20 years. These are obvious fakes and the reports have been accepted.
- The LFL is not so obvious it could be there so if the OP wants it removing then they will have to go to the location, take several GPS Tagged photos to show that it doesnât exits.
Good luck with cleaning the map in your area.
Thank you for the tips! These are actually real objects in the park but they spread them out into fake locations outside the park. Unfortunately the community approved some even though I reported them during the review process. Once I saw they got approved I knew I needed to do some ground work. I have pictures and coordinates but when reporting the stop through Pokemon Go it is very limited space with only one image. Hard to put all the evidence. Once i get all the rejections Iâm going to try to use the link to report abuse. Iâm just frustrated about the automated review of these. Thereâs no way anyone actually reviewed them and now I have to put in MORE effort. Not sure itâs worth it.
I can only suggest that you use an app that adds the GPS Data to the photo.
Take images of the actual object (in the correct place) and the location where it is in game.
Therefore you have evidence that it does exist just in a different location. Niantic may decide to move them instead of Removal saving the job of re-submitting.
Only you can answer that. Do you want âmore stops at any costâ or an accurate map?
