Fake Pokestops being nominated and accepted in neighborhood

A player in our neighborhood keeps creating fake pokestops. They are in our neighborhood and local area. The players nominates pokestops for private areas, such as a members only pool. You either have to go on private property to access it or go on school property. This does not seem right. They also take pictures from other locations, such as Italian restaurants and makes fake pokestops of murals at other Italian restaurants. They move pokestop locations of things like little libraries from residential areas to business areas, just to get them approved. Reporting these pokestops has been hit or miss. We could easily name at least 10 fake stops or stops that don’t follow the criteria. What else can be done? This player wants to be top player, going around with their multitude of accounts from all three teams, knocking out players and filling gyms with their bogus accounts. They drive around all day playing, creating stops, bullying neighborhood players, all in the name of being the top player in the area and having pokestops all over the area with their name on them. It’s truly pathetic and makes the game no longer fun.

Welcome to the forums

You need to ensure that you know what the rules are, as mixing in reports of eligible wayspots with reports of ineligible wayspots will lessen the impact of your reports.

Please read through Private Residences, Farmland & K-12 as this details which locations are not eligible.

In summary, schools (and anything else focussed on below-18s) is ineligible, as is single-family private residential property. This includes anything attached to the external boundary.

Multi-family residences, flats, apartments, condiniums, gated communities, businesses, places you need to pay to get into, places open only to a few individuals, are all eligible locations.

Stealing photos from one location to create wayspots somewhere else is completely separate from nominations of wayspots in members-only locations.

If there is a large number of fakes, it is good to make a single report that has all of them listed, as this makes the issue more visible to Scopely Explore. I think this is the best place to do that: Reporting Abuse in Wayfarer — Wayfarer Help Center

Also for fake nominations that are inside a building then niantic is going to need proof that you are telling the truth. Geo referenced photos work well. There are apps to help with this.
