Hello! I’m hoping for some advice on the validity of a possible wayspot before submitting, as it seems that nominating footbridges can be a little dubious. This is about a small, railed bridge within a named woodland (Upper Dearne) crossing a named river (River Dearne), and sits on a public footpath. It is not on a named trail, but is part of a popular walking loop for locals that is half on public footpaths and half on a named trail (Dearne Way). Crossing in one direction leads you towards the nearest village of Birdsedge, while crossing in the other direction leads you to the named Dearne Way. The guidance on these bridges is a little confusing, so it would be great to know if this has a decent chance of becoming a wayspot or not - Thanks!
I would vote to approve that. It’s in the woods and looks like a lovely walking route that cannot be completed unless you go over that bridge.
I would try to submit this. I would try for a photo more clearly focused on the footbridge with less background to make it stand out more what you are submitting. As is, this would be a great photo to use as supporting to show it is necessary to the trail. I think I would crop something like this for the main.
I think that here in the US, footbridges are more of an easy accept than they are globally, though.
I have done almost exactly same crop ![]()

Yes a nice focus on the bridge play around with angles.
Is this the correct place
The green or blue circled spot?
If it is then do talk about it being on the PROW. rowmaps is the website.
If you use web bait method you should be able to include a screen shot as one of the 5 images.
This shows that there is a bridge there and that several PROW rely on the bridge at this point. You can also see some stiles. If there are PROW markers these can be submitted with info about the path and the nice walk
With some good write-up on the description and some information about the route in the supporting with a link would be great.
Either way, with a reasonable description I would defenitely vote to approve this
Thank you, yes, it’s the green circle. That’s really useful to know about rowmaps as the location isn’t viewable on Streetview or satellite, so I was unsure how to prove it does indeed exist!
I’ve submitted the trail marker that guides you to the bridge from the north (waiting for approval) though the path down from Penistone Road is marked by the generic green public footpath sign you see everywhere so I figured that wouldn’t be likely to be accepted.
Will work on getting some supporting photos/screenshots and a decent description, cheers all ![]()
Good luck with this, it looks like a nice bridge which always helps
The PROW map to confirm the location is very helpful - you could also add extra photos from further away if the situation allows.
(I like the idea of the web bait from @elijustrying, trying to snare the reviewers with extra photos)

I love this aspect of web submission, and have been using it.
Reviewers are only provided with a google map and satellite view. Rowmaps enables not only the details of the PROW and confirmation that it is an official walking route, and it’s number but the OSM map which shows the other paths and a better sense of how you will explore.
This lovely bridge is on DEN 76/100.
As far as I can see it helps reviewers and therefore helps my submission.
Win win.
Personally I’d only vote for it if it was on a named walking trail, not just a public right of way (not all PROWs are walking trails). Otherwise it doesn’t have much significance apart from keeping your feet dry.
The bridge itself is more interesting to look at than most, a good photo might help. This sort of thing does get through despite my objections to it, so if you fail at one attempt you could try improving it and resubmitting.
Cheers for all the help as always, it has been accepted ![]()
