Description:
Historic industrial building in Mödling. The former Beka Shoe Factory was built in 1913 and later served as the Leiner central warehouse. Parts of the building are protected as a historic monument.
Supporting Information:
The building is a historic industrial landmark located in Mannagettagasse, 2340 Mödling, Austria. It was originally constructed as the Beka Shoe Factory and later used as the Leiner central warehouse. Parts of the building are listed as protected heritage structures.
The nomination was rejected and the appeal response stated that the significance could not be verified because no sources were available.
However, public sources do exist:
Additional sources have since been found:
Filmarchiv Austria:
The Filmarchiv Austria describes the Beka Shoe Factory as a major industrial facility founded in 1913. A dedicated industrial film was produced about the factory in 1921. The archive also confirms that the building later served as the Leiner central warehouse and has been protected as a monument since 2011.
This appears to confirm the historical and cultural significance of the site.
The building is well known locally and represents an important part of Mödling’s industrial history.
My question is not about overturning the decision. I would simply like to understand why this nomination was considered not historically significant and why the available public sources were considered insufficient.
The submitted photographs were taken by me on site and the location is correct.
Thank you for your clarification.

Thanks for the appeal, Wayfinder! We could not verify the significance of this building as there are no available sources. Hence, we are unable to reverse the decision. We would recommend that you resubmit the nomination with additional information in the supporting text column, such as articles, which would greatly increase the odds of approval.
Thank you for your feedback.
I would also like to point out that the nomination has now been submitted multiple times.
After the first appeal, Niantic stated that the historical significance of the building could not be verified because no sources were available.
Since then, I have provided public sources documenting the history of the building:
AustriaWiki:
Filmarchiv Austria:
These sources confirm that the former Beka Shoe Factory in Mödling was founded in 1913, later served as the Leiner central warehouse, and has documented historical significance.
Despite adding these sources and resubmitting the nomination, it was automatically rejected again.
Therefore, my main question is:
Which specific Wayfarer criterion is causing the automatic rejection, even after historical sources and supporting evidence have been provided?
I am not arguing with the decision. I simply want to understand what criterion is being triggered so I can improve future nominations.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
