I Get Mail With Text:
Content: Nhà Văn hóa khu 1
Policy Violated: Generic very low severity offense.

Got a rejection for our local Cultural House (Nhà Văn Hóa). The reasons given were that it’s “generic” and has “no historical or cultural significance.”
This is what drives me crazy.
I explained in the supporting info that this building is covered in official government banners and flags. In my country, private homes absolutely cannot do this. It’s the definition of a public, state-managed building.
I also pointed out the massive public-address speakers on the roof, which you can see on Street View. They use these to broadcast news to the whole neighborhood. How is that “generic”?
It feels like reviewers just saw a building without a fancy sign, didn’t bother to read the cultural context I provided, and just stamped “generic.” It’s literally the definition of a cultural and community gathering spot, even though it doesn’t look like any other cultural house. Frustrating.
and if my nomination is rejected for some reason then i don’t think it’s worth wayfarer warning my account like this
Are you willing to share your entire nomination via screenshots? What you are currently saying doesn’t say this meets criteria as being a great place to be social/exercise/explore, which all Wayspots must meet at least one of. Many places have flags and PA systems, but that doesn’t mean they meet criteria, which you can find here: Wayspot Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center
It may not meet the exercise criteria as you said but this place definitely meets the communication criteria because it is a cultural house of the area. this iis full image screenshots:
This is listed as a general store on Google Maps, so that could have caused the rejection if this is incorrect. It does not appear that Google Maps has been updated to show that this is a government meeting place.
You are welcome to appeal the rejection and explain that there is no general store here, if incorrect on Google Maps, and further explain why this meet criteria. If you can find any links online that note this is a government meeting place also, that would be helpful. We get 2 appeals every 15 days.
It’s not very helpful to reviewers or even staff to say “Hey, there isn’t a sign marking this as a cultural center, but I swear that it is.” You have to provide proof that is it, and so far, that hasn’t been provided. The car out front also doesn’t make for the best photo, even though the license plate isn’t shown, but it doesn’t help make it stand out. Keeps things like this in mind for future nominations.
If you did receive a warning, you should have received an email allowing you to appeal the warning. If not, you can also appeal it at the following link:
Thank You, Below is a translation of the banner Obviously, no grocery store would hang a banner with this kind of content. I’m also surprised that Google Maps shows it as a grocery store. I am certain that this is a Cultural House, so I just took the picture and submitted the nomination without double-checking Google Maps first
Of course, you can see 2 pictures in the comment above, i have additional pictures too. I understand that the reviewers and Wayfarer staff might have been mistaken because it looks quite similar to a private house. However, I specifically noted in the supporting information that only public, government-managed places (like commune and district centers) display those kinds of banners and flags. Apparently, that explanation wasn’t very effective.
I did an image search, as that tends to be one of the issues when this rejection reason is used. Didn’t find it posted online at all.’
And it doesn’t look like SFPRP; it’s just that the car being in the photo is unneeded and takes some of the focus away from the building and the signs.
It’s true that the two cars and the building’s design—which looks a bit like a private house—are misleading. But I explained everything clearly in the supporting info: the banners, the flags, the loudspeakers. Most people probably just ignored it and report me anyway.
Hey so I am one of the local here. I would confirm this can be a community house as they have a lot of “quote” with the red background to encourage villagers on a town to complete a target.
This type of speaker is a public address ¶ loudspeaker, also known as a community broadcast speaker. It is a specialized piece of equipment, and its use is specifically regulated:
Authorized Users: According to Vietnamese law (specifically, decrees governing grassroots-level information activities, like Decree 49/2024/NĐ-CP), this speaker system is an official communication tool of the government. They are only permitted to be installed and operated by local government bodies (like the People’s Committee of a ward/commune) or at public facilities and collective gathering points (such as community cultural houses, schools, or train stations) for official public information purposes.
Why Private Homes Are Prohibited:** A private individual or household is not legally permitted to install and operate this type of speaker for two main reasons:
Jurisdictional Violation:** It is a device for official government communication, not for private consumer use.
Noise Violations: Operating such a high-powered speaker would immediately exceed the legally permitted noise levels for residential areas (regulated by Decree 45/2022/NĐ-CP), causing a significant public disturbance and resulting in administrative penalties.
Therefore, the presence of this speaker is definitive evidence that the location serves a public function and is not a private residence
By the way I have a more look on this building, the 2017 still show the quote
“Governement Town 1 focus on maintining “Cultured Town”” with an information board.
I have absolutely no idea where does the company come from.
Despite having no “entrance sign” of this is cultural house, the flag in your image, the 2017 streetview, the quote and the information board, maybe provide proof the warning is false? I don’t think any other non-governement building would have those trait.
Thank you to the appeal team for reviewing and accepting my nomination for ‘Nhà Văn hóa khu 1’. I’m very happy to see it approved and added to the map.
However, I am concerned because my account received a warning strike for this exact nomination (Reason: Generic). Since the appeal was successful, could a moderator please confirm that this warning has been removed from my account’s record?
