In a Level 14 S2 cell that already contains three gyms, one of which is a sponsored gym (e.g., Verizon), does the sponsored gym count toward the maximum number of gyms in that cell, or can another non-sponsored PokéStop still be promoted to a gym?
If we decided to remove that sponsored gym, can we get another gym again?
Sponsored gym count toward maximum allowed gym. Unless the sponsored gym is problematic, it would be hard to remove it. Is there any problem with the gym? Attempting to remove gym in order to manipulate gym creation is subject to abuse ladder system. Sponsored gym usually have time period. It will dissappear on its own once sponsored period end. You might want to keep the number of wayspot ready once the sponsored period end so you can have replacement gym immediately.

I dont know. I think that depends on agreement between the sponsor company and niantic.
