I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of who to contact? I got approved for a poke stop but they put in a gym? How can I get this fixed?
You submit wayspots for the wayfarer database. You don’t submit Pokéstops or Gyms or Power Spots.
The devs of each game set rules and such on how they want wayspots to be used in their respective games. In the case of Pokémon Go, it’s been observed by the community that Gym creation is based on the amount of Pokéstops and Gyms in a given level 14 S2 cell.
In this case, the nomination you submitted must’ve caused the level 14 S2 cell to reach the threshold for its next Gym to be created, and the game randomly chose the wayspot you had just submitted. This is not something that the wayfarer team has any control over under normal circumstances, so the Gym should remain a Gym.
That being said, the kind of sign you’ve submitted here normally wouldn’t meet any of the eligibility criteria, so you’re lucky that you actually have anything to use at this location. Make the most of your new Gym. There are lots of players that wish that had an easy to access Gym.
How long will the gym stay? If the gym is removed for any reason will the stop stay?
Gyms are pretty much permanent unless they meet the removal criteria for some reason. Whilst this doesn’t necessarily meet the eligibility criteria and probably shouldn’t have been accepted in the first place, it doesn’t seem to meet any of the removal criteria, so it’s probably not going anywhere.
