I am hoping someone can help with a rejected Pokestop I recently submitted. It shows as a duplicate of a not-in-game Waypoint, the name and photos of which are outdated - they were since redone as a memorial to my late brother, who spent a lot of time there both as an avid basketball and Pokemon Go player.
I would greatly appreciate some guidance on how to appeal/merge and update the duplicate so it can be added in game. I drive by these courts every day and it would be really cool to see it in game, spin the stop and send postcards to my siblings & friends from it.
So sorry for your loss. Instead of resubmitting the Wayspots, you can submit a new photo for the ones that exist in game. Then you can thumb the new photo to get that to be the cover photo.
To add a photo, you tap on the title of the Pokestop, then tap on the three dots, then a menu will appear where you can add a photo.
I am looking specifically at the park sign with this advice. Once the photo has updated, you should be able to update the title and description the same way.
The Basketball Courts are already a Wayspot. It will not become either a Pokestop / Gym as it shares a cell with “Huston Park”. It is also too close to become a Dynamax Powerspot.
I have noticed that the Court wayspot is in the centre of the play area which it shouldn’t be, you could suggest a location edit to the North East end which could allow it to appear as a powerspot on Rotation.
Please Note: If the location edit is successful staff will make the final decision and it might not be where you suggest.
It looks like the ball field has not been submitted. If pinned at the backstop, which is the usual recommended position, it should be eligible to be used as a Pokestop.
Adding to the above comment. The park sign used for the waypoint was removed a few years ago and the new sign was placed on the other side of the parking lot. Adding an updated photo and asking the park sign to be moved to its real location through the help chat could at least let the basketball court become a powerspot.
Eligibility for something to be used as a Pokestop(or gym) depends on S2 cells - those boxes in the screenshot I gave you. Staff don’t acknowledge them but the community has discovered that there can only be one per L17 S2 cell, so it is not possible to have both the sign and the basketball court be Pokestops. Yes the park sign is a gym. Huston park includes the tennis courts, fire station, (both pokestops) basketball courts, baseball field and playground. Here are some more pictures for context.
The photo you shared with those boundaries is interesting. It looks to me like the pin for the courts pokestop would need to be on that small corner of the court outside the pink shaded area?
But I’m also confused why the old hidden waypoint can be in that zone, unless the density rules don’t apply.
Wayspots that are not used as Pokestops or gyms still exist. That is why they are on the Wayfarer map. They may be used as Power Spots, or they may be used in other games, or not at all, or for something Scopely hasn’t even thought of yet in the future.
The waypoint is unsafe if it is in the field of play so should always be located on the edge. This means the basketball one should be moved. Also, if you nominate the baseball field you will get another gym nearby.
That’s super helpful to know. So if it were on the bottom left corner in this photo, both out of play and outside the gym’s cell, it would be acceptable? Would also be inside that fence.
Would it not still be flagged as a duplicate of the old courts waypoint? How can that be moved if it is not in-game?
I always hesitate to tell someone new to the S2 idea to move things around. Wayfarer staff will NOT do a move just to put something in a different cell. This is actually to correct a badly placed pin, so they may do the move, but they may not put it where you would like for it to go.
To request a location edit on something you can’t do in game, go to the Help tab on the Wayfarer site. A chat box will pop up. When you tap it, you will see the option to do a location edit.
Curious if it would also make sense to just delete both the old wayspot and my submission as they’re in an unsafe area, then submit a new one with a pin in that corner of the other cell.
I think that a removal report for these would be denied. Removal criteria for safety issues seems to be more that life is in jeopardy than interfering with players, although we don’t exactly know what their internal removal criteria is.
What I would do right away is add a new photo of the current sign to the gym for the park sign. And submit the baseball field. Then worry about moving things.
The screenshot you posted says there is a Hockey Rink. Where is that?
It is a third party tool overlay for the wayfarer map. We are not allowed to share links to third party tools on the forum. You could try searching the internet for wayfarer tools if you are really curious.
While i agree that current location is not correct because its in the middle, staff may not necesarily move the wayspot to the corner that you want. He /she will have his/her own discretion on where is the correct placement. This is my personal experience.
I am just telling so you can be prepared if things dont go as planned.
